I drove in first gear down into the San Gerardo de dota valley birding the entire way until I came to the end of the road where the violet-earred hummingbird was calling incessantly next to the Spanish style home/ office of Suenos del Bosque (Forest dream). The owners daughters greeted me with smiles.I paid a very very very fair price... More

Good, spacy cottages with all required amenities including hot shower; nice environment; refreshing cool nights but enough blankets to keep you warm in bed. Good to spot a variety of birds, including the quetzal (we saw 7 in one tree in the early morning), and even some monkeys on the trails that go into the forest on the slope beyond... More

It's hard to imagine a more idealic spot for birding and roaming. Unfortunately, it poured the whole time I was there and didn;'t sight the resplendent quetzal. The biodiversity of the area was overwhelming as is much of the highliand in Costa Rica. I look forward to returning/.

Nice and quiet. It takes quiet some time to get there by car. The surroundings are beautiful and a great place to spot the Quetzal. Its a bit chilly up there so take a light sweater with you. Overall great stay! I was there in november 2012 btw. I can't select that date so i thought i just mention it... More

Really enjoyed the atmosphere, time seemed to slow down. Loved all small places around to eat local food and the endless amount of trout in the gushing river! The only thing that was bad was that we arrived to check at 10 pm and it was pitch dark and no one there, we had to speak Spanish to a man... More

My friend and I came to Costa Rica at this time of year in hopes of seeing a Resplendant Quetzal, as apparently the best time to see these splendid birds is from March to June. I had imagined that we would be led on a hike up into the hills, wouldhave a bird pointed out to us, and would jockey for... More

I stayed Suenos del Bosque on my College of Charleston study abroad trip to Costa Rica. The hotel was hard to get to but so worth it. We were greeted by a delicious meal and set off to explore the surrounding jungle. Our group took a little hike up to a beautiful waterfall right in the middle of the woods... More

I had the pleasure of staying here for just 1 night with a group of 10 college students on a study abroad trip from SC, USA and it was one of our favorite stays!!! It is hidden seen in the mountains and surrounded by lush rainforest and running waterfalls. The food was fresh and plentiful and the freshly squeezed Cas... More

This past summer I studied abroad with the College of Charleston and we stayed at Suenos del Bosque. We had so much fun there because we were able to go right outside of our rooms and enjoy the beauty of nature everywhere we turned. Then, we were able to take a trail to a waterfall onsite. It was so awesome!... More
