Overall I enjoyed this lodge nestled in the mountains. The staff was friendly and accommodating and attended to all our needs. There are numerous hummingbirds that can be seen at the main lodge in the restaurant. One can see the scintillent hummingbird, magnificent humminbird and the volcano hummingbird. There are other species to be seen at the feeders just outside... More

We had amazing views from our superior cabin which was spacious and well equipped (although having a jacuzzi in the bedroom is a bit odd as it makes the whole room steam up!). The small heater in the room is not up to the task so we had very cold and uncomfortable nights. The quetzal tour was excellent and the... More

We recently returned from the best vacation ever, and one of the absolute highlights for us was our three night stay at the Paraiso Quetzal Lodge. Nestled high in the mountains of Costa Rica's cloud forest, this lodge was, for us, a wonderful, magical place. The location is spectacular, the birds are awesome, but what really makes this place special... More

This was one of my favorite locations in Costa Rica. The hikes are amazing. They're very strenuous: altitude 2650m meant I was short of breath a lot, and all up or down - no flat areas. But the hikes were gorgeous. The lodge grounds are also beautiful. They do a great job maintaining their land. The hummingbird feeders are awesome!... More

This friendly lodge is quite high so the nights are cool but the cabanas have plenty of blankets and a small heater. They also have great views across the mountains and wonderful sets. The dining room/lounge has a wood fire. We did the quetzal tour ($20 each) but didn't see a quetzal but later that day we saw one from... More

I booked here after reading other Trip Advisor reviews. Thanks to all who reviewed for pointing us to this can't-miss place. We are nature lovers and especially birds. This was our second trip to CR and we were determined to see the resplendent quetzal. Paraiso Quetzal did not disappoint - BUT it was so much more too! The location is... More

We stopped here on our way from SJO to the San Isidro area. We enjoyed a hearty lunch and fantastic birds both in the hummingbird garden and the guided tour they took us on. If you email ahead, Jorge will set something up good for you. Highly recommended, and easy to find.

The best way to describe this place: magical. The views from the rooms are absolutely breath-taking, even when it's cloudy. No picture could do it justice. The cabins are built in such a way that you almost feel like you are in a tree house overlooking the expansive cloud forest, and the attention to detail inside is top notch. The... More

Paraiso Quetzal Logde is a great place to stay! All bungalow have a great view of the amazing mountains. Birds come at you without any worries. If you feel like hiking the place is full of great trials to do so. Get something different and completely natural by checking in at this great spot. Don't worry about food cause they... More

The staff was so kind. My husband got sick and they let me make numerous phone calls. They were willing to wake up in the middle of the night, which thankfully we didn't need. Their efforts on behalf of local farmers and the quetzal birds are admirable. They are active conservationists, making sure the habitat of the birds is protected... More
