This was my second trip to Rancho Margot (RM). RM is a mostly a self-contained vacation ranch in the rain forest. By self-contained I mean they raise all the food you eat there such as fruits, veggies, cows, pigs, and chickens. Everything is completely organic to include all fertilizer, animal feed, soap for bathing and laundry; there are no insecticides... More

We were grateful to see you at the Ranch again. We like to thank you for taking the time to write about your experience at Rancho Margot! Every opinion helps us to improve ourselves everyday. We work hard to get there, to be 100% sustainable, long road to go, but we make it happy and motivated by the visits of... More

Had this ranch on my radar since seeing it featured on CNN 4 years ago. Was fascinated by the combination of learning about sustainability and retreating at the same time. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, wonderful yoga instructor and beautiful escape for hiking, meditation and fresh food dining. Ideal for a woman traveling solo looking for a safe get-away and something different... More

When we read reviews like this we know we are going in the right directions, still the road is long, many steps to get there, but every day we get closer, we love to share what we learn about sustainability in this beautiful journey and become the oasis in the middle of the rainforest. So glad that you enjoy being... More

Rancho Margot is a fantastic example of sustainable tourism and offers an interesting and alternative stay. The ranch is impressive and immaculate which is reflected in the price. The dorm rooms are basic and small yet comfortable, however be aware that you will be able to hear your neighbours making the rooms less appropriate for relaxing. The natural pools are... More

I spent a month at Rancho Margot, living in a beautiful bungalow in the most perfect rain forest where you pretty much sleep outside with nature. I was there to teach yoga to paying guests. I expected a wonderful experience and got so much more - it was an life changing month that everyone should also get a chance to... More

We went with a group called Under 30 Experiences and it was really one of the best vacations we've ever taken. There are so many activities but you can always just relax in the peace of the rain forest. The food is absolutely delicious. You can taste how fresh it is and the service is fantastic!

Rancho Margot is a jewel, but it is not for everyone. If you want to be close to La Fortuna/shops/restaurants, or if you want a luxury hotel, this is not for you. If you want to "feel" Costa Rica, eat clean food, and see how sustainability really works, this is the place for you! Rancho Margot is 45 minutes by... More

My family of 4 (2 teenagers) stayed here last week for 3 nights. The hotel is sustainable and the ranch tour by Chico was really interesting & informative. The people who worked there are nice and my son and husband milked the cows - which was very cool. The Ranch is very hilly & there are some trails to walk... More

This place was worth the splurge~ dreamy, remote rain forest surroundings with beautiful accommodations. The bungalows were gorgeous, the common spaces also lovely (the bar, the eating places), the pool enviable, the food yummy... but all that was eclipsed by the perfect, wild jungle surrounding us. An early morning hammock sit was the most peaceful moment of my trip (I... More

Wonderful stay as a solo traveler and first timer to Costa Rica. The accommodations were as advertised, if not better; staff was friendly and helpful and food was delicious! A must for eco-interested travelers or anyone looking to get a bit off the grid. Would definitely recommend!
