Me and a friend stayed here for just under 3 weeks and had an awesome time. The surf is about a 5 min away along a boardwalk through a mangrove forest. Dan and Erica are the best hosts you can hope for, always super friendly and are ready to help with any planning/advice for the rest of your trip. Probably... More

Wanted to share another review on Casa Surf to let the TripAdvisor world know that they have recently done a huge reno on the place and its looking amazing!! I've posted a couple of pictures so that you can see the difference. As if Casa Surf wasn't the chillest place already, Dan and Erica have added a tiki beach hut... More

Great place if you like to surf and relax afterwards. I've first spend a couple days here, then went travelling on a little and came back to spend another month here. I returned last year for another 2 weeks and I'm sure to come back! The place is about 5 mins walking distance from the beach on a path that... More

Casa Surf is EXACTLY what I was looking for. If you want a place to stay with wonderful owners, great food, awesome board selection and company... this is the place for you. Dan and Erica could not be more inviting, generous and mellow if they tried. I love that there is no internet. If you can't live with out internet..... More

I first stayed at Casa Surf Nov-Dec 2012. My friend Tim Meek introduced me to Dan and Erica. More than likely two of the nicest people you will ever meet. We stayed 2 days, and we always stop and say hi when we are in the area, Avellanes, Costa Rica. The walk to the beach is great and when it'... More

Some friends and I recently stayed at Casa Surf in Avellanas. We went there solely with the intention of surfing with Casa Surf being very close to the beach. We booked months in advance and booked with the intention of paying the $30 per night, which included room rental, 2 meals per day and board rental (a great price). We... More

The Casa surf hostel was only a few minutes walk to the beach and excellent surf. It is located in a rural area. The host were friendly and easy going. The hostel itself was very basic and could use a good cleaning or at least a little more up keep. Areas were a bit smelly at times which just made... More

Casa Surf is what I imagine Costa Rica hostels were like before the tourist boom. If you're looking for luxury, stay somewhere else. If you're looking for a simple retreat with chilled owners near an awesome, quiet surf spot with a heap of breaks to choose from check it out. Dan and Erica are great hosts, welcoming and cool to... Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Casa Surf is a laid-back hostel/ surf camp perfect for travelers on a budget looking for a clean, safe place to sleep, surf and make new friends. Surf lessons can also be provided by our patient and experienced instructor. Casa Surf is located across the street from Cabinas la Olas, only a 6 minute scenic boardwalk stroll from the untouched beach of Avellanas. We are a far cry from the tourist mecca of Tamarindo, and we love it that way. We believe in providing a pure travelling experience for those who appreciate it most, and our accommodations reflect that. If you are looking for air conditioning, hot showers and isolation from other guests this is probably not the place for you. If you want to surf world-class waves, meet amazing friends for life and experience the true Pura Vida style of Costa Rica, you'll find all that and more at Casa Surf. ... more   less
