Important to note: This is not a pure original Korean rural stay. While the building is build in the old style, the bathroom is modern with an electric toilet and the room has air condition and a flatscreen TV. Nevertheless very nice Additions to the previous positive comments: You cannot take a taxi to the lodging. The taxi drops you... More

One of the delights of visiting a country like South Korea is that not only does it still retain a huge part of its traditional way of life, it actively promotes it. Not everything is bright lights, big city. Many guidebooks recommend a stay in a Hanok, which is a Korean traditional house. We chose to stay at Rakkojae in... More

Let me start by saying that the Hahoe Village is very much worth seeing in the first place. Only about 200 families live there and the architecture is 100% authentic and historic. Nestled in a river bend, it's also a must to drive to the top of a set of cliffs opposite the village for the view overlooking the village.... More

Easy to find location in Hahoe Village next to small boat dock area. Owner resides there. Walk to location for Village buildings. Quiet clean room with traditional ondol floor heat with own modern bathroom separate from other room. Korean-style on-floor bedding. Love it. Western or Korean breakfast in a tray is brought to your door by the owner is included.... More

Sleeping in a guesthouse like this, placed in the heart of Hahoe Folk Village, is the best way to experience it. In fact in the village there are no restaurants, so after the visit you will be forced to come back to present time to eat something (and possibly sleep somewhere!), instead Rakkojae provides also dinner and breakfast so you... Pros: If you are looking for a stay in traditional guest house with very nice modern bathrooms, this place is quite wonderful. Very picturesque and in a good location. Cons: Just a couple of things to be aware of. First, it was difficult for us to find as there are no signs with its name on it. We had to... More

The Rak Ko Jae is a traditional Korean guest house with the style of a boutique hotel. Four lovely guesthouses, air-conditioned and with computerized private toilettes are tended to by a gracious Korean hostess. A Galbi dinner cooked for us in amour private dining veranda was the best meal we had eaten in the country. An ideal abode for visiting... More
