We had 2 meals here last week and both visits were fabulous. The owners made us so welcome even when 10 of us descended on them at 7pm Sunday evening! The food was delicious and the tapas menu meant that as vegetarians my family had a variety of food to choose from. We were staying in Probus, but when I... More

We recently came here taking visitors who were staying with us. We all chose the fish and chips and found the fish very disappointing, the batter was described by my husband like an old flannel and was very soggy - not a lovely well cooked crispy batter. I do feel that if places in Cornwall can't get fish and chips... More

With a recent tastefully done refurbishment by St Austell Brewery and the arrival of new landlords Giles & Nina, The Hawkins can boast great surroundings, well kept ales, great food, superb service and a really friendly welcome. Well used by locals again, so it's advisable to book a table in advance.

Found this pub whilst on holiday in Cornwall. Wish we had found it earlier in our holiday but we had the most fantastic welcome from the staff and the food was amazing, highly recommend Hake and Belly Pork. The chef is very talented.

Excellent. Found this pub by accident when meeting friends in Cornwall. Probus is off the main road so your not likely to stumble on it. Make a point of going there. The staff at this dog friendly pub couldn't have been nicer and surprise, surprise the food is beautiful. Slightly limited menu but should be something to suit all tastes,... More

Enjoyed a lovely lunch here, all food is clearly freshly prepared. The pub has a lovely feel to it - friendly and relaxed - and the garden is lovely - spacious enough for you to find your own space! Food was promptly served and good selection on menu. We'll be back!

The pub itself is very smart inside, separate areas to eat and plenty of room outside. However, food took nearly an hour to come, not excusable for basic lunches even though a lot of us. Some of us had ploughman’s but even those took ages, perhaps waiting so all food could come together - but one member of party did... More

Thank you for your comment. We were told 15 people were coming for lunch, mainly wanting sandwiches,at 11am we had a phone call telling us there were actually 24 people all arriving at once.As nothing was pre - ordered Inevitably there would be a delay as most wanted hot meals. Not what we were lead to believe. A large number... More

As a local, I have frequented this pub on many occasions but I just wanted to thank the new owners for the lovely atmosphere they have created since their arrival earlier this year. It feels warm and welcoming and seems to be attracting more locals and visitors alike. We had a lovely meal with friends the other evening and the... More

We heard on the grapevine that the Hawkins Arms had new owners so we thought we'd try it. First impressions were "is this the same pub?" The interior hasn't changed but the atmosphere certainly has. We were greeted with a smile and a welcome second to none. The pub was buzzing and alive again. I had a pint of Tribute,... More

Great news to hear of the change of management and as a result we ventured in to see if improvements had been made whilst seeing family. A good sign was the curtains were open (before always shut) so we could see the real fire and a few people! Staff were nice and friendly and the atmosphere of the pub was... More
