As a local, I have frequented this pub on many occasions but I just wanted to thank the new owners for the lovely atmosphere they have created since their arrival earlier this year. It feels warm and welcoming and seems to be attracting more locals and visitors alike. We had a lovely meal with friends the other evening and the... More

We heard on the grapevine that the Hawkins Arms had new owners so we thought we'd try it. First impressions were "is this the same pub?" The interior hasn't changed but the atmosphere certainly has. We were greeted with a smile and a welcome second to none. The pub was buzzing and alive again. I had a pint of Tribute,... More

Great news to hear of the change of management and as a result we ventured in to see if improvements had been made whilst seeing family. A good sign was the curtains were open (before always shut) so we could see the real fire and a few people! Staff were nice and friendly and the atmosphere of the pub was... More

Just been for our first meal in the Hawkins Arms, having only taken over about a week ago, we were greeted within a few moments of walking in through the front door, lovely atmosphere, nice welcome, and the food was lovely, good portion, just what you need after working all day, and you don't want to cook.

We visited the Hawkins Arms a few times over the past few months just after it was refurbished. It is very comfortable and cosy inthe lounge bar. One nice thing is that it is dog friendly and the dogs get a free biscuit. The range of beers is good and the St Austell beers are well kept. However the food... More

I don't understand the other reviews! The pub has been refurbished and looks nice, i'll give them that but as for the atmosphere and service... well....Its like they just don't want to be there. When we ordered coffees at 11.40am after attending for a post christening drink and nibbles we were told that we would have to wait until EVERYONE... More

Newly refurbished, beautifully done whilst still in keeping with the original, visited at lunchtime and evening, family friendly, clean and welcoming! Our children kept asking to go back, especially for the pool table!

We went there last night. Food was good. Proper pub food with some nice specials. Nice refurbishment. Gary was pleasant and helpful. We had quite a nice conversation with him. You can take your dog in with you. All visiting dogs get a biscuit. Worth a visit.

I have been here quite a few times since the Anne and Gary took over and it seems even better each time I go if that's possible! The food has always been good but my last few visits have been exceptional. The choice of specials varies so there is always something different to look forward to and the "theme" nights... More
