We have eaten at this very pleasant country pub several times. Each time the food has been delicious & beautifully presented. The homemade burgers are not to be missed accompanied by lightly herbed chips. The deserts are all homemade, the menu changes frequently, unlike some other pubs in the area who have had the same menu for the last 5... More

We booked a table for 9 to celebrate my son's birthday. The pub was very quiet and we were shown to a table in the far corner of the room. We ordered some bottles of water and 2 bottles of red wine; when the waitress returned she had just 1 bottle of the wine and informed us that it was... More

Midweek evening & not too busy. With a fire, soft lighting , lots of bare wood, it was very cosy & welcoming. The young staff were efficient and pleasant. The food was good. The evening was relaxing. Some dishes needed a more accurate description. I marvelled at the mushrooms in my dish, but someone on the next table had to... More

We have eaten at this pub twice in the last few weeks. Once with friends and again on February 14th. It's fair to say that we enjoyed both evening meals immensely. Roaring open fire, nice beer and meals. Not cheap but you get what you pay for and although it's not our closest pub it's worth the drive. We will... More

We stopped for lunch at the Ship Inn and on a dank February the low beams and wood fires were just the ticket. The attentive - all female - service was slick and unobtrusive. The young lady in charge had an amazing eye for detail where every table was concerned and nothing passed her by! There is a daily menu... More

Cold winter morning in February and looking for a good place to have lunch on the journey home. I have visited this country Inn before with my late wife and wanted to see if it was as good as I had in my memory. Warm welcome and the menu included many of our favourites. All dishes were served in an... More

We were made to feel very welcome by our French waitress. She was most helpful and friendly with useful suggestions regarding our choices of food and drink. Speaking of which, I'm vegetarian and am often disappointed by the lack of imagination in pubs (goat's cheese, tomatoes etc.) anyway, not at The Ship. They had some lovely dishes to chose from... This is one of our favourite places to eat on the weekends, I can give a great recommendation as we have eaten here 6+ times in the last 4 months. Every time, the food is great, wonderfully cooked and quality ingredients. It can get busy, so make sure you book at table on the weekend. Has a nice wood burning... More
