We only had chance to stay for one night as we find it hard to get away from our business! However Caroline and her team really made us feel at home. Fantastic location a few minutes stroll from the beach. Beautiful bedrooms - homely and luxurious! Delicious breakfast. Could not have asked for more! Will be back again soon. Would... More

Just returned home from an overnight stay at the woodlands to celebrate my birthday. What a gorgeous setting, in a beautiful, tranquil location. From the moment we arrived our host was relaxed, friendly and helpful. Our room was beautifully decorated, with high quality fixtures and fittings that made our stay comfortable and enjoyable. We booked in advance for dinner and... More

I dined here a couple of nights ago whilst on holiday. Strictly average food. It was just stuff I could easily do myself at home, nothing special. I had the Goats Cheese salad starter and the Cod main.

We dined at the Woodlands twice during our recent stay at Sandsend and were massively impressed. It is located at the end of a stunning valley so a little hard to locate. We were staying locally in a cottage and stumbled across it whilst exploring the area. It's a small dining room but well decorated and has a small bar... More

We spent a really great night in the woodlands hotel. The attention to detail in every respect is amazing.we had a lovely room, quiet, beautifully decorated. The evening meal was excellent, the bar well stocked, and breakfast was great too. But the best thing about this friendly hotel is the locations: you may struggle to find it, but once you... More

Was staying in Sandsend for the weekend and after reviewing Tripadvisor we decided to eat at the Woodlands Bistro, I used the email address link and booked. This is where it all gets confusing, all websites for the Bistro link directly to the Woodlands hotel which are two completely different places, run by different people. Many people are being confused... More

Just returned from a day out at Sandsend north of Whitby. Found the Woodlands Cafe/Bar by chance and decided to have lunch, we were not disappointed. The lobster was delicious served with homemade chips, salad and rape oil mayo. My husband had Haddock, homemade chips and pureed peas and again he thoroughly enjoyed it. Although we had'nt planned to have... More

My wife and I stayed for a weekend back in February in room Louis. What a fantastic little place nestled into the valley, not far from the gorgeous fishing village of Sandsend. Our room was tastefully decorated and very comfortable, with many little touches that made it such a delight to stay in. Particularly loved the great sized bathroom and... More

The Woodlands is in a delightfully tranquil position, but so close to the amazing beaches of Sands End. Our room (Imogen) was beautifully decorated, had gorgeous views of the valley with the sound of birdsong - and had a lovely large shower too. The breakfast the next morning was one of the best I have had - soda bread, mushroom,... More

We stayed here for a night a couple of weeks ago and it was excellent. Arrived on a Friday lunch time to have lunch in the associated woodlands restaurant around the corner at the other end of Sandsend...food was 10 out 10 with great relaxed contemporary feel to the place. Wed didn't book a table - next time we'll book... More
