The reviews do not do justice to Kelburne. We arrived late the first night, the staff were there to welcome us and chef was happy to prepare sandwiches for our late dinner. As we had arrived in darkness, the next morning we awoke to a magnificent panorama view looking out from our cottage. Our cottage was the "Wild Flower' and... More

If you are looking for a relaxing, laid back and nevertheless relatively luxurious place to stay in the midst of the Sri Lankan tea country, this is the place to go. We stayed for three days in the comfortable Rose Cottage, one of three at the Kelburne Estate. With an altitude of 4.500 ft above sea level, all three cottages... More

Well I'm not sure you would find better views anywhere! "Cottage" understates the accommodation - our cottage was an old tea planter manager's house and had 2 bedrooms, 2 living rooms and a dining room. Raja was in attendance and dealt with anything we needed - arranging breakfast outside with the most spectacular views was a highlight. We ate in... More

A bit slow in getting this review on i'm sorry, we stayed in Feb 2015. Firstly let me just say. Do not leave Sri Lanka until you have strayed here , My husband and three children loved this place the most for 2 nights out of all our places on a 3 week trip around the country. The clouds roll... Stayed with my husband at Kelburne Mountain View Cottages in July 2015. The location is truly amazing and we found it easily with Google Maps. We stayed in the Aerie cottage, which is suitable for 4 adults with 2 separate bedrooms, a dining room and 2 sitting rooms, one on the garden side and one with a fireplace and the... More

Would have given 5/5 but couldn't get any hot water to bathe in -but for our 1 night stay I could cope with that and the setting is so stunning it makes for a truly memorable stay. We booked as half board so I don't know what the food cost was but the experience of dinner with our own waiter... More

We stayed for 2 nights in the Wildfire bungalow. As others have noted the views are superb, the service (through dedicated "butler" Ravi) was exemplary and we really enjoyed the ambience. We weren't shown the menu card, so was quite a surprise to see as we checked out that we had been charged 175,000 rupees for dinner for 2 nights... More

My three week trip in Sri Lanka will be one I will never forget, the highlight being time spent at Wildflower Cottage, high up on the Kelburne Estate. The views over the tea plantations from the terrace where breakfast was served was simply stunning, the air so clear and clean, the solitude encouraging relaxation and calm immediately. The cottage was... More

My wife and I had two lovely days here and very much enjoyed being looked after by the superb staff. This is one of several locations in the high tea country of Sri Lanka where the houses built for the manager and senior staff members of a tea plantation have been converted to small inns or holiday rentals. The two of... More

We spent one night here, and it was fabulous. The views are amazing and panoramic setting required on cameras to do it justice. But it wasn't just the view, it was the whole package, the staff team were perfect, the food was delicious and the cottage (Aerie) was so comfortable. It was a step back in time, with a game...
