The view is absolutely amazing. You may even get lucky and see humpback whales in the bay. Kev is a great host and will give tips of what to do on the island. We had a rental car and I would highly suggest to get in Raiatea to get around.

On a hill on the outskirts of the Island of Raiatea's one town, Villa Tonoi offers comfortable spotless accommodation in 'bungalows' each give wonderful views of the very attractive lagoon and the forested hills. The management and staff were both very friendly and practically helpful. Villa Tonoi does not provide dinner ( or lunch) though there is a limited delivery service by an outside supplier (which I did not use). A microwave and fridge is provided for self caterers. The short steep, but well maintained, access drive might put off some cautious drivers. It is helpful to have a hire car on the Island though some fellow guests relied on taxis. I would happily stay at the Villa again.

Wow this villa was just amazing! The best thing by far was the stunning views across the lagoon. Although there is a steep hill, it’s worth it. We hired a scooter which was very reasonably priced. The villa had everything we could need, although there isn’t a.c the fan was just as good. We cooked our meals in the villa and dined on the balcony overlooking the lagoon. The pool was lovely to cool down in after a hot day.

Pro: Top end construction throughout the property. Great views. Small comfy pool on a nice deck. Private deck with table and chairs in each unit. Laura (owner) took us into town to buy groceries, and also set up a rental car for us. Small stove-top, mini fridge and toaster oven. Mosquito net over the bed. Strong Wi-Fi. Good sized bathroom/shower. Con: Very. very steep switchback hill to the Villa. It was not walkable for us. Limited cooking utensils, no coffee maker or kettle. (We like to cook, so we had to improvise somewhat). There was no BBQ, which would have been nice, No phone, so if you had to make a call you had to walk up/flag down owners to place a call for you, which is fine if they are home. We wanted to call a taxi to go into town one afternoon, but could not because of the above mentioned. A cell phone package was not an option for us. Bed was okay, kinda of springy. Very narrow on both sides of the bed. The shower head was a mounted/removable hand held type. We found out (the hard way) if you turned the water on too high, the handle would move and shoot over the shower enclosure. My wife standing at the bathroom mirror was not impressed with the soaking she received. Oops. Tips: If you are in great shape, you could do the hill, but it is a trek. We were there in November, the rainy season. If you visit around that time, stock up on bug spray, as they were relentless. We tried the mosquito net one night, but it had a couple of holes in it. Rent a car and see the island, it's very pretty. We rented for 5 hours and that worked for us. They pick up/drop off at the end of the rental. We knew going in that the Villa was atop a hill. It did have great views, however, it was a few of the little things, that let us down. Maururu

Villa Tonoi is such a beautiful and comfortable place and the owners treated us like family. Laura and Kevin were such wonderful hosts and provided everything we could have asked for. They provided transportation from the airport and Laura called to order a catered dinner for us the first night. Laura even stopped at the market the next day so we could do a quick shop for groceries so we could make dinner that night. The bungalows are very comfortable and had everything we needed during our two-night stay on Raiatea. And the view is amazing! Being high on the hill meant we had some beautiful breezes in the evening. The location is a bit secluded and you will not be able to walk into town from this spot - well, I suppose you could, but it would not be easy! That was not an issue for us at all, since they provided transfers from the airport, to the harbor for the day excursion (see note below), stopped at the market so we could do a quick shop and took us to the yacht harbor at the end of our stay! We highly recommend going out for the day excursion on Kevin's boat, "Kamave" where we snorkeled at an amazing reef, went to a pearl farm, had lunch on a beautiful motu, went swimming then visited a vanilla plantation, all at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend Villa Tonoi and French Polynesia! What a beautiful place with beautiful people!

The bungalows have all an amazing view! We had a great experience: the bungalows are very modern & comfortable. Kevin and his wife are very welcoming and helpful to make sure you have the perfect stay at the Villa Tonoi and at Raiatea. They organise excursions on their boat to Tahaa to discover the lagoon, pearls farming, vanilla culture. We highly recommend this place to anyone!

Villa Tonoi is the perfect place to enjoy and relax. Bangalows are very nice, wifi is available and there is also a small pool on the terrace for Villa Tonoi guests. We appreciated to have a kitchen to stop eating at restaurants every day. The view from the bangalows is amazing. When we arrived we had the chance to see a whale and its baby swimming in the bay just from our balcony. This place is situated on hill so it's better to rent a car. We rented a Panda which was brought by Avis in front of our door. Breakfast is really good with bread, jam and croissants. We enjoyed the private cruise organized from Villa Tonoi to Taha'a. We had a very good day sailing from an island to another and then swimming at the coral garden. We also stopped at vanille plantation (repellent is a must-have) I absolutely recommend this place. We stayed so well.

The views from our bungalow were great! Beware these 4 villas are up a very steep hill. We were given a ride by Laura into town and we took a 5 min taxi ride back. Our bungalow was new, fresh, and attractive. The shower was very large. The mini kitchen was just right for a dinner in when we were too tired to go out. Breakfast is served in the main house. We were met at the airport and given a ride to the marina for our chartered catamaran. Highly recommend.

Beautifully appointed modern villas with the most fantastic view, this is a great place to stay and relax! We didn't have a car so Laura picked us up from the yacht charter base and drove us to the airport at the end of our two night stay. Because we didn't have a car (although they could have organised one for us) we really appreciated the option of purchasing dinner at a very reasonable cost (from a small menu) that was delivered to our door from a local provider. Laura and Kevin were incredible hosts and made our stay memorable.
