Had been to Calella de Palafrugell 23 years ago staying at the Sant Roc hotel, which has a great position. The price of the Alga was less than one half of the Sant Roc were charging for Bed and Breakfast and so there was a degree of nervousness about what we would find at the Alga. We booked through Expedia... more

This is a a really nice three star hotel with beautiful gardens and a really good 25 metre rectangular swimming pool. The public areas are cool and airy and very well kept. In addition the food, both dinner and breakfast is extremely good as well as being great value for money. BUT (and this is a big but) the so... more

I stayed at Hotel Alga with my husband and our two boys (aged 10 and 7 ) from June 29th until July 6th 2008. We had an absolutely lovely time. The garden was great. The boys loved the turtle and were facinated to hear she had her turtle eggs hidden. The pool was spacious and quiet and poolside beds readily... more

We stayed at Hotel Alga during our trip to Spain in May. The hotel itself is really basic, but is spotlessly clean and also benefits from lovely grounds and swimming pool. The staff are really helpful and friendly and the food is fantastic - the breakfast will certainly keep you going well past lunchtime!...it is the same every day, but... more

We abandoned a wet and windy Ile de Re to come here. It was a last minute booking - two days beforehand - in high season but the hotel did everything they possibly could to accommodate us (Xavier deserves a special mention for his cheerful efforts) In the end, we stayed for a week, in two different rooms, with one... more

Clean hotel, friendly staff, nice pool, no restaurant but plenty in the centre few minutes walk away. Some nice coastal pathway walks but can be quite hilly in parts. Unspoilt as yet! more

A rather strange experience. Very nice room, spacious, modern room with balcony and lovely views over the bay at Calella de Palafrugell. Lovely gardens and nice pool. No air conditioning in rooms. Our room was near the main road which runs alongside the back of the Hotel so was quite noisy with traffic during the day and evening. Breakfast buffet... more

Stayed for a week in September 2006, our second visit to the hotel and 20th to the resort. Its spotlessly clean, all the staff are friendly and helpful, and ifs a great location just minutes walk from the charming small resorts of both Calella de pallafrugel and Llafranc. The rooms overlooking the garden or pool are the best to have... more

The Hotel Alga is set in the very picturesque surroundings of Calella de Palafrugell. We went in May and it was fairly quiet and there were not that many guests at the hotel. The hotel is fairly large with a large garden area, terraces, restaurant, bar and a pool. We would have liked to use the pool but it seemed... more
