Everybody wants to stay at the beach so they can pay sky high prices for mediocre rooms and sneering service. Yet ten minutes inland from the coast the real character of the Costa Brava lives in small villages, local restaurants, and oasis hotels like Ses Arrels. Once you find it (not so easy but go uphill from C-31 through the... More

Nothing but praise for this wonderful boutique hotel. A delightfully modern renovation of a classic stone farmhouse creates a superb base to experience this magnificent part of Spain. The staff are truly charming, friendly and helpful. The breakfasts provide an extensive range of options, and is a great experience both inside or out in the garden. We ate at the... More

This is a small hotel in a small village some 2 kms from the horrendously busy C 31 and 4kms from the very popular and thus very crowded castells beach. it is about 6km from Palafrugell. it is a renovated old farm house with 10 adjacent bedrooms in a modern single storey block which resembles a block of lock up... The location was excellent for us as we were visiting many places along the coast from Roses in the north to Blanes further south. We stayed in a room inside the hotel building itself. The room and the bathroom were huge. The bathroom needed a little attention eg repainting were the shower had leaked down the side of the wall... More

The hotel has a good location, near many beaches of costa brava. We were amazed when we arrived, the hotel outside is precious, well cared. But as soon as we got to the room, there was a bad surprise. Seems to be another place, no charm, some furniture damage, side table light broken, dirty walls, bathroom not so clean. A... More

To be fair, this is a nice little place, semi rural, with a beautiful main building. The rooms are large, clean and modern and the pool is not bad to cool down and throw a few butterfly strokes about. My only complaint was the whole place needed a bit more attention to detail, some areas of the complex were looking... More

Thank you for rating the hotel, We're betting more heavily on the maintenance of the facilities. One of the points we worked hard, has been the garden and outdoors. However, we are working on the interior maintenance. With staff in charge of it. Thanks to your feedback, this has been possible, Yours faithfully More

We booked a superior room and were not disappointed. I have stayed in smaller bedrooms in London compared to our bathroom. 4 Star room, in the main house. There seemed to be very few staff. The ubiquitious Sofia was receptionist, waitress, bell hop, room cleaner and also did pool service! She was amazing, friendly and funny. Breakfast had a cooked... More

The Ses Arrels is a charming hotel in a beautifully refurbished farmhouse in a pretty little village about a 15 minute drive from the seaside towns of the Costa Brava. We had a nice stay, and would recommend the place, though there were some minor gliches with towels in the room and coffee service at breakfast while we were there.... More

I thought I had written this review before, but apparently no. After a long 1300km trip from Lisbon to Vall Llobregat (100kms North of Barcelona), we arrived exausted at Ses Arrels only to be welcomed with open arms by Javier, our very hospitable host. He asked us if we had had dinner. It was 22h30, we were very hungry but... More
