We stayed in the self catering cottage - La Casita (opposite Casa Zalama) & owned by Marie cruz & Graeme - for the 2nd time in May 2014 ( previously 2 years before) . We were made so welcome, the cottage was small but perfectly equipt with all we needed. There was a lovely terrace garden looking out over fields... More

San Pelayo is not so much a village as a hamlet and it is not in a particularly attractive spot but this bed and breakfast is well 'worth a detour' for the hospitality. The whole building has been restored with charm and character so that the bedrooms are extremely comfortable while the lounge and dining room is a joy with... More

It would be easy to say Casa Zalama is the ideal location for those like me that love food and hiking, because it is, however the place is so much more. Truth be told I didn't even do that much walking, our hosts (Graham and Marie-Cruz) provided such a wealth of insight into the area I ended up discovering far... More

The only downside to our stay was it was only one night. Travelling with a group of friends by Motorbikes we arrived late having travelled from the ferry port of Santander. The greeting was fantastic, the rooms beautiful and dinner in the small and cosy dining room the best of our two week route across Spain and France ! Do... More

Have just returned from 5 nights at Casa Zalama staying in the suite. The house was peaceful with a great rustic ambience created by Graham & Mari Cruz which made us both feel at home immediately. Excellent, healthy dinners and breakfasts made the stay even more enjoyable. The hosts advice and help on where to visit was invaluable for us... More

I totally recommend Casa Zalama! It is located in a small town, quiet and relaxing. It has been tastefully restored and it is full of little details (the owner used to work decorating houses and you can really tell she has a talent for it!). The room was spacious and beautiful. The garden is fantastic, with loads of flowers. The... More

We enjoyed a superb 2 night stay at Casa Zalama and I'd have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone seeking a quiet, scenic corner of Spain with good home cooking. The house is beautifully decorated and our room was spacious, homely and comfortable. The surrounding area is stunning, both for local walks in the village and for exploring Las... More

Just an update from my last report two years ago. Casa Zalama is as good as it gets. We have now stayed here four times and never tire of the place. Wonderful hosts, wonderful food and great wine - all at astonishingly low prices. We are hoping to return next year and bring four other couples! The Ebbro valley must... More
