I am very glad to have stayed here, though hungry and disappointed by lack of food and poor service, the actual building and pool was fantastic. After reading reviews I requested NO dungeon, however we got it anyway and found the rooms were good. Smelt a bit dungeony but they are actually more private than the next level rooms as... More

This was an amazing hotel inside an old castle. We stayed here for one night on our way back from the Algarve to the Channel Tunnel. The hotel had an excellent restaurant (which was just as well because it was in the middle of nowhere) and a very pleasant swimming pool situated in the old moat. The rooms were large... More

We stayed in a nearby monastery/hotel, but had to move because of a weddingparty. The friendly guy at the reception recommended this castle and we were very hopeful. The location is very beautiful indeed and most of the rooms as well. We had a large room with s view and a less attractive room downstairs. In the latter room you... More

Dear Silvia, First of all, thank you for your feedback, as it helps us improve. However, it is a pity to read these words, knowing you wrote this critic before talking to the hotel staff, so we could not solve your disappointment. Our only goal is to please our guests and to make sure they have a wonderful time with... More

11 of us stayed here in July. Fantastic experience. It was a real castle where you could explore and touch everything. Everyone loved the secret entrance to the breakfast area. We stayed in one of the suites. Small stone steps down to the bedroom. Such a fun experience. The staff were lovely too. Everyone loved their stay - really memorable.... More

The room was beautiful, the bed comfortable and the bathroom (shower, bath and amenities) were luxurious. This isn't what you'd picture when you think of a fairytale castle but because of that it seemed more authentic. The surrounds were very peaceful and it's away from the bustle of Salamanca. Our GPS took us through the back roads (dirt roads!!) but... More

Splendid, intact, fabulous food, magnificent breakfast. Dinner pricey but excellent. In the middle of nowhere with lovely views, smells & pool to chill on a non tourist day. Highly recommend. Upgraded to inside room with terrace & sat and ate our provisions IE, manchego , fresh bread, wine & olives & oil one evening at sunset with our travelling friends.... More

This is not your Disneyland castle, it’s a genuine castle, restored and refurbished, but keeping its authentic character….which may mean it’s not luxe enough for some (no elevators and no help with luggage etc.). Definitely not for the disabled. We (two couples) did find the basement rooms too subterranean and moved to rooms one flight up with a terrace. Due... More

Pros: Beautiful place, filled with amazing antiques, beautifully restored, nice breakfast. Cons: Our room was on the outside of the castle, practically subterranean with views into the moat from a very low window. It was noisy at night from pipework, the tv started downloading information in the middle of the night with a flashing light, got locked in our room... More

My wife makes on average, one outstanding suggestion in 20. Castillo del Buen Amor near Salamanca was such an awesome success that I fear I might now have to endure 40 - 60 really bad ones! She spent many hours researching hotels along the Ruta de Plata at a point where we would usually start to feel bored/tired/hungry/wasted etc! This... More
