Spent one night at The pelican! Never again!! Carpets in bedroom dirty, shower poor! though beds comfy and clean!", The noisest place ever! Creaking floors and doors! We could hear next room occupants walking around etc!! Breakfast @9am only! Very early for a Saturday plus rooms vacated by 10am!! Staff quite disinterested! We wouldn't reccommend this B&b!! More

We stopped off here on the way back to Chippenham from London today as the M4 was closed at Hungerford. There's ample car parking, free wifi and the food and service were both excellent. The chef here is a genius. It's a little pricey - £27 for 2 Sunday roasts and drinks but worth every penny as the food was... More

We had sunday lunch for 4 people and it turned out to be a very enjoyable experience in all respects. The food was of a good standard, the portion size was fine altough the vegetables could have been cooked a little longer for my taste. The staff were very friendly and efficient and I am pleased to say that we... More

Very attentive staff, good food (although vegetables a bit on the crisp side), otherwise good value, good size portions and a good dining experience overall. On a future trip I would ask to have the vegetables a little longer cooked to meet my taste which I'm sure won't present a problem to the restaurant. The restaurant was very busy with... More

Nice Pub, Good food and the staff were really good. Had the misfortune of staying in Room 2 where it looked like the carpet was straight from an episode of CSI, no shower and tired decor. Needs a makeover and quick. More

Ohh dear, I have heard new management are in town... Well what a surprise, Joseph is amazing!! Being the new manager, he has turned this place around. After meeting him this lunch time, I was so surprised to find he has only been here just over a week... he has had an obvious influence on this place. The meal was... More

Stayed at the Pelican as we had a retirement party in Hungerford. We booked 3 rooms and on arrival felt very unwelcome and told we had to have breakfast by 9am on Sunday err why? So we skipped breakfast losing the Pelican best part of £80, good business sense NOT!!! We arrived back from the party at 12.00 and found... More

Pub located halfway between Swindon & Basingstoke, so met family there for lunch last week. Didn't book as last minute but more than happy to accomodate us - will book next time! Surprised how busy during the week at lunch - but there is a reason for that as there was absolutely nothing to moan or complain about. We are... More

My wife had rung the hotel directly when we were booking and had spoken to the owner Paul, organising 2 adjoining rooms for 3 nights initially and with her second call a couple of days later, extending the stay to a fourth night. Room Type: Double/Queen Beds in both (+ cot in one) Nights: 4 (In 27 May, Out 31... More

I stopped here for lunch on the recommendation of my father and was not disappointed. The welcome on walking into the venue was prompt, warm and polite - a rare treat in a British Inn these days. We were offered drinks at the bar and then we asked if a table was available for lunch. The young man behind the... More
