Advised by a guidebook, we looked in here for a late lunch (2.45). There seemed to be nobody about but luckily a waiter appeared and we were ushered to a table in one of the dining rooms. The owner then appeared with menus and suggestions and we subsequently ate a delightful meal. The food was very tasty, if a little... More

How does one describe this hotel? Firstly it is 4 star quality, but as it does not have a lift,is only given 2 star status. The owner gave us a wonderful warm welcome and could not have been more helpful. Our room was superb...I recommend you look at their own photos. We ate there and had an excellent dining experience.Would definitely stay here again... My girlfriend insisted that we stay in a castle during our visit to Spain, and I'm glad she did, because during our stay in Laguardia at Castillo El Collado, we were treated like royalty. Javier, the owner/manager/wearer of all hats, including the chef's, provided us with everything we could possibly want, including ear to ear smiles from his warmth and... More

My wife and I usually prefer smaller hotels or inn's. This place fit the bill. Booked through email and showed up 24 hours later. Parking - There is a small alley or driveway to the inn. Pull up and unload your luggage. There is parking halfway down the hill and also on the street. The owner checked us in and... More

We had a lovely stay here. Upon arrival we were taken to the castle tower and given 2 glasses of complimentary champagne and peanuts. The owner/manager and staff were friendly, accommodating and a real pleasure. The bathroom was beautifully re-done. The room was large and comfortable. The decor was appropriate for the atmosphere. We ate dinner at the restaurant one... More

We enjoyed our short stay at Castillo El Collado a lot. Javier, the owner/manager/host was passionate about his castle, his food and his guests. If there were seven stars rating available in tripadvisor he and his castillo derserve it.

We stayed here for 2 days at the end of a driving tour through France and northern Spain. Arriving hot and tired after a long drive, we were ushered to the terrace and glasses of chilled white Rioja were put in front of us. Xavier and Raphael seemed to have a sixth sense about what was wanted, and appeared as... More

If you want real old-fashioned hospitality, you won't find anyone better than Javier. His old family home, which he turned into an hotel 17 years ago, just oozes authentic historic charm, but has everything you need in modern conveniences. Looks like the rooms were very recently renovated, with lovely bathrooms, dual climate control (in bedroom and bath). His service is... More

Stayed for 2 nights over a holiday weekend. A little hard to locate due to roads being closed for a foot race, but well worth the effort. Javier is an expert host - you will not find anyone better, anywhere! There was a harvest festival in a village nearby for which he provided information and complimentary tickets. We felt like... A castle from the begining of the 19th century and restored in 1996. It has ten rooms and each one is named after an influential person of Laguardia and the Kingdom of Navarra. The decoration of the castle is an example of good taste and sobriety, not missing the fine elegance that enraptures visitors, who come here to spend their time in this idyllic and harmounious paradise with beautiful views full of the local colour. There are three very old function rooms decorated with Arabian ceramics and handcrafted coffered ceiling from the beginning of the 19th century worthy of note.
