This is a Youth Hostel, but it had a better shower than some B&B's we paid twice this for. Remember your towels, and remember that everything is extra. Older facility, but still serviceable. Washing machine, dryer, and drying room were very handy. Everyone very helpful. Great location for Hadrian's Wall attractions and activities. Other guests were also well behaved and... More

My first experience of YHA accommodation and I was very impressed. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming, especially Laura who deserves a gold medal for going the extra mile (and that's not a Roman one!!)! It was an absolutely atrocious evening when I checked in with torrential rain, thunder, lightning. Lots of people looking for shelter that had... More

Once Brewed is ideally located near Hadrians Wall, next door is the local information centre. The Twice Brewed pub is within one hundred yards of the YHA and is perfect for an evening meal and frothy pint. The hostel has warm showers, however it is a long walk down the corridors. There is a good hearty breakfast and also an... More

Having recently stayed with my family here we all really liked it. Although some parts need some TLC (being done-up in November) we all really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were lovely and it had a lovely cosy feel. I highly recommend staying here if you are interested in the land scape and hiking as it is situated in... More

The hostel is starting to show it's age and is certainly very basic. Shower areas were less clean than I'd prefer, but the food (both dinner, breakfast and lunch pack) were very good and the staff was very helpful and nice. Due to it's location an ideal stopping point for a hike along Hadrian's wall.

The YHA hostel at Once Brewed is ideally located for the wall, it's a 10 minute walk away. the scenery is just stunning and although the area is isolated the Twice Brewed Inn is a few minutes walk up the road from the hostel. The hostel itself is clean but basic, it's a fairly anonymous modern building (1960s). Bed rooms... More

We visited this hostel over the weekend 18th - 20th July and had a lovely stay. I must say that I found it better than one of the hostels that had been redeveloped that I stayed in last year. The shower and toilet facilities were immaculate, the lounge large and nicely set out. Ok so the pipes were a bit... More

Very convenient stop off for Hadrian Wall walkers and handily next to the pub! Staff helpful and breakfast ok but room was very dark and drab and facilities generally looking pretty tired. I understand that redevelopment plans are in the offing and would be very timely.

Did the job, in need of some attention. Staff were great, mould on the bedroom ceiling was far from great. Location is spot on, be warned the pub next door stops serving food early. We go there a shade after 9 and the kitchen had closed.

What a hidden gem! Everything you want when you want to be surrounded by the beautiful landscapes that the UK provide. It kind of felt like being back at a school camp as the rooms has that wooden, cabin style about it. The showers were really good and it's a small drive to the nearest town to get food supplies...
