Happened upon this restaurant recently, between the villages of Siorac-en-Perigord and Coux-et-Bigaroque. Good selection of French dishes - and excellent pizzas for those in a hurry. Best of all, in the dusk of the evening, was the view down the river Dordogne and the families out fishing and relaxing. Will definitely revisit, when we return in the spring for a... More

Stopped here for one night on our way to our villa. Absolutely beautiful! Very welcoming owners and staff. Room was just lovely! We had a perfect meal with one of the loveliest views ever! We will definitely be back!

Ate here on our first night staying in a house in Siorac and it turned out to be our most expensive meal over the whole holiday. The food is good but not great and you can get far better value else where. The buffet starter choice could be better, and you cook your meat yourself as it is served on... More

friendly , clean, knowledgable and very very good value. We will return to this gem of a place right by the wonderful river. Central to the beautiful sights chateaux's and wines of the region. British couple and their family are the proprietors, the room was clean spacious with character, modern but french, a view from the terrace, internal and external... More

Fantastic setting, terrific hosts in Meryl and Chris. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The evening meals cooked using hot stones were unusual and very entertaining as well as delicious. Definitely recommend this charming hotel and hope to be back soon.

My wife and I stayed at L'escale for two nights in mid-September while enroute from Sarlat to Bergerac by car. L'escale is located on the banks of the Dordogne River and has ample and easily reached parking. It has a large patio overlooking the river which would have been an excellent place to have lunch. Unfortunately, the patio was closed... More

I did not stay overnight, but I had a fantastic lunch on the terrace restaurant overlooking the Dordogne. The food was very good - I had the steak, but my friend also enjoyed the salmon - and the service was fast and friendly. About 27 euros for lunch, including wine and coffee. Highly recommended.

I've stayed at L'escale on more than one occasion simply because it's probably one of the best hotel experiences I've enjoyed in France. I've visited Paris for pleasure and business, the Meditteranean coast for the same and yet none rival L'escale. The location is sublime, the service is perfectly attentive but not intrusive, the hotel and facilities clean and welcoming... More

We stayed here for 2 weeks and didn't want to leave. The studio had everything you could want including a large comfortable bed!! Every morning we took our coffe down to the river, 100 yds away, and could have stayed there all day watching the herons. little egrets, king fishers, fishermen and the fish jumping. They say location is everything... More

Really is right next to the river, we spent 2 hours swimming in it after a long HOT day. Breakfast was good value. Dinner was just OK, if I was you I'd skip it and drive somewhere and get much better value for money. Room was fine, although the shower alternated hot and cold repeatedly. Beds were oddly soft but... More
