Comfortable rooms and hearty Scottish breakfast in this quaint old village hotel. The rooms are clean and well equipped. The bar food was good and we enjoyed fresh haddock and chips. The bar is frequented by hotel guests and locals from the village

My sister and I ate here whilst cycling the Reiver's Route. The food was excellent and very clearly homemade on the premises. I had a delicious chicken curry and my sister had scampi. The puddings were also of a high standard - homemade chocolate sponge and a lovely apple crumble. It is great to see a chef taking such a... More

We were staying at Keilder campsite and the owner told us about the pubs at Newcastleton and how nice they were. So off we went and the food was amazing. We had steak. It was superb. Good local pub and friendly people. Reasonable prices and well worth a visit.

Visited the Liddesdale Hotel in April 2014 for a drink and was so impressed with the choice of ales we decided to stay for Dinner. my wife and I both had the gammon steak with home made chips, it was cooked to perfection and was a proper gammon steak about an inch thick. we returned the following night and we're... Very quiet, we were the only customers! Slightly worried until the starters arrived which were excellent, beautifully presented, very tasty and good value at £4.95 each. Next came out our mains which were both 10oz Sirloin steaks. again excellent value at £14.95 each and well presented. Not just that but they were both cooked to our liking as specified and... More

We really enjoyed our stay at the liddesdale, from the initial welcome to the last goodbye the staff were extremely accommodating. When we had a minor road accident and would not meet the arranged dinner schedule, we arrived in our room to find sandwiches along with a nice note which really made our terrible evening a lot brighter. The food... More

Situated in a sleepy village with very friendly locals and amidst beautiful scenery, this small hotel is an absolute gem. Although we arrived early we were met with a warm welcome and shown to a spotlessly clean room overlooking Douglas Square. The lounge bar has an inviting open fire and there is the option of taking evening meals here too.... More

We wanted to book somewhere to get away from it all for New Year, and this little hotel certainly did the trick. The location is wonderful, right in the heart of some fantastic walking and cycling. The village itself has everything you need, and the hotel bar is always very friendly and welcoming. The staff could not have been more... More

I'm not a fan of KGB Shopping, but I've indulged, with my fiancee, in a number of their KGB Destinations trips. This was the latest one. Lovely pub/hotel/restaurant in the Borders. Lovely little town, (great butcher's shop), set in great countryside. If you like walking or cross-country cycling it's a great destination. The hotel? Excellent. Clean, comfortable and very friendly.... More

Me and my partner went to the hotel for 2 nights, had a lovely time, the staff were friendly and the food was great. Room was cosy too and had a nice atmosphere in the hotel all day. Some great walks near by and the locals were very friendly too. Would definitely go back :)
