The hotel is superbly located and only minutes from the seafront. The rooms are of a high standard and nicely decorated and very clean. The only major disappointments were the hotel advertises a lounge bar and evening meals(on-line and outside the hotel too)both of which neither existed during our stay which was disappointing and left us feeling let down as... We found this an ideal hotel to stay as my mother in law is in residence in a care home over the road. The hotel we found to be friendly and very accommodating when we required an extra night. The breakfast was good and the room clean and tidy but found the shower to be a little weak in pressure.

We arrived 4pm with a hospitable welcome and disabled so was offered the ground floor accessible room with a wet room. There was super ample space with a double and a single bed. Very comfy with tea/coffee making facilities and branded tea, biscuits and coffee etc. Husband went to get us a take-away as not doing food this time of... More

I stayed here for a couple of nights in February, during a very bright but extremely cold period. The room was warm and clean and the bed very comfortable. The decor and carpet were admittedly a little tired, and the shower a bit slow to work and warm up, but all the necessary facilities were there including tea and coffee... More

We stayed here for two nights with my daughter, son in law and two grandsons. We had a double room and a family room at the top of the building. Our room was cold, (the radiator needed bleeding I suspect) although there was an electric heater which we used. There was no hot water and the shower was tepid to... More

Stayed for two nights at the Avalon and found it a very friendly guest house with good facilities, a good breakfast and very convenient for Gorleston's golden sands! Ann, the proprietor, was friendly and helpful.

Stayed here for just one night with friends. We were very surprised when we turned up that an envelope was stuck on the front door with our names and the keys to the house and rooms - never ever had that happen before. There was no welcome as apparently the owners do not live on site. Our rooms were on... More

Stayed here bank hol weekend with my wife. We had room 4 with a four poster bed. The staff were friendly, as were the other guests, some of whom we chatted to in the lounge/bar at the back. The room itself was very clean and comfortable and also quiet at night. The location is good, just a 2 minute walk... More

Our family have just used this hotel, we were given two enormous rooms with tea/coffee making facilities and hairdryer. This is a warm, friendly hotel with efficiant staff, the rooms are clean and well presented, we even had a four poster bed. The breakfast was lovely, you could have anything you wanted and there was plenty of it. The hotel... More

Stayed 2 nights. Arrived mid-afternoon, envelope taped to door with keys to choice of rooms. Previously advised that we were carers for disabled adults so given choice of ground floor room which we didn't take. Rooms 3 and 4 on 1st floor were clean, although a little dated. Room 3 with double bed, single bed, bunks and a travel cot... More
