A very pleasant little hotel with a lovely restaurant that provided an excellent breakfast. Room was very nice (16) although slightly spoilt by the noise of the huge kitchen extractor fan that runs up the outside wall. Very noisy! Otherwise very pleasant stay and would re book although probably not the same room!

My husband and I and two friends from France have just spent two nights here, the service was superb, friendly staff, fantastic chef and the rooms were fabulous.it has been awarded two stars from the AA,but we felt it should be more and would certainly stay there again and cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

Dived into the George for a simple midweek single course evening meal. Pretty good meal off the Specials board comprising Dexter beef, four veg and rather tasty horseradish mashed potato. At £11.95 good value.

We enjoyed our stay at the characterful George Hotel, Castle Cary. Staying B&B our double room on the first floor was quite comfortable (noisy air con or fans outside) and equipped with TV, kettle, Iron, all the things you might need when you're away form home. My wife found the shower head did not fit the bracket properly so showering... More

Very comfortable hotel in the middle of an old quaint English town - just loved everything about the whole town. The proprietor was very friendly and helpful, and went out of his way to make us comfortable and answer our questions about the town. The building is a few hundred years old, with an ancient fireplace and brick used from... More

The George is located in the centre of the quaint little market town of Castle Cary, opposite the Market Hall. The are various seating areas if you are simply sampling one of the fine ales on offer, including a lovely bar at the front of the building with a huge fire. Accommodation and food are available at reasonable rates. Well... More

We booked a night at the George to celebrate an anniversary. We had booked a meal in the restaurant but changed to the bistro as it was busier. The meal was very good, a veggy dish for my wife and venison for me, and the service was attentive without being intrusive. Our room, in one of the converted cottages, was... More

Went for dinner last night to The George , complete disaster , Poor service and food was poor , the restaurant was cold and the waitress was very slow . Management need to look into staffing levels . We were told that the owner is now running another pub in Monteque so perhaps he feels its not worth the time... More

This hotel and restaurant is in the middle of a very quaint village and is a perfect place to stay when breaking a trip from London to the West Country. Nothing too special but spacious room with four poster, well equipped but plumbing a bit old and the room fragrancer was very over the top and bad on the throat.... More

As a party of 15 senior walkers, we found the hotel staff friendly, helpful and obliging on all occasions. Our rooms were clean and beds comfy and more than adequate for a weekend away with friends. The food (dinners) were excellent in both quality and presentation and met with the approval of all 15 of our group. The breakfasts were... More
