Delicious food, really delicious, and with a great providence - locally sourced and best available. If you love food this is a real treat. And the rooms are lovely. Very cosy bed, great bathroom. Everything has been beautifully thought through. Sally and Jools are warm and provide a calm and beautiful welcome. I really enjoyed our visit and, unusually, felt... More

Have just returned from a night away from the kids at the Pilgrims Rest. Absolutely brilliant. The place itself admits to being "not the prettiest", and I must admit my husband and I did wonder whether we'd made the right choice when we pulled up in the car park. Any doubts we had were soon alleviated. The rooms are not... More

The relaxed, warm welcome from Sally is remarkable because she genuinely will do everything in her power to make your stay comfortable but equally, if you want to be left alone and just pitch up for meals, that's fine too. Because the rooms are reached through the back gate from the car park you don't feel that you are disturbing... More

The Pilgrims at Lovington was a bit of a surprise to us. Perhaps because we had not read the website sufficiently carefully, we had been expecting a traditional country inn. In fact the original property has been extended to provide a line of ground floor bedrooms. Our room was very contemporary in feel. Indeed some might feel that it was... More

Firstly, I would like you to know we are fussy people when it comes to where we stay and I am a very hard to please eater, as I cook and bake at home everyday. So, The Pilgrim was from our first step into the cosy bar with a log fire burning, a lovely surprise. Sally the owner welcomed us... More

We stayed for one night last weekend. There are two things we love about the Pilgrims. The first is that everything is done to the highest standard but in a down to earth, non fussy way. White Egyptian cotton bedding, bathrobes, a torch and umbrella for late night walks to the pub, saffron sauce at dinner, toast from homemade bread... More

Visited the pilgrims rest with freinds who where visiting thought we would take them out for a nice meal to a local restarant. This place calls itself " the pub that thinks its a restarant " a pub it is NOT " only bottled beers no draught. We found the lady behind the bar who we presume was the owner... More

From the moment we set foot in the Pilgrims we felt welcome... Tastefully decorated with the focus on retaining character, the bar has a wonderful wood burning stove, exposed beams and flagstones, which gives a period feel without being over the top. The staff are the owners and they are extremely attentive without being over the top... The obvious hope... More

We only stayed for one night but wished it had been longer! From the moment we arrived we both completely switched off. I booked for a mid-week treat to surprise my boyfriend on his birthday and we had the place entirely to ourselves. The rooms were lovely, clean and relaxing to be in. The hosts Sally and Jools were brill... More

The folks at the Pilgrims were incredibly warm and helpful without being in any way overbearing. This is the perfect place for a weekend getaway for two. The rooms are plush without being stuffy and the bathroom was incredible - huge gorgeous bath, luxury shower, bathrobes included. The beds were unbelievably cosy, especially after a long drive to get there.... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Why is The Pilgrims at Lovington called 'The Pub that thinks it's a Restaurant, with Rooms?' It's as relaxed as a country pub but the food is better than many a city restaurant - not least because all the ingredients come from ‘just over the brow of the hill.’ And the rooms are simply stunning, Egyptian cotton, king size beds, roll top baths and walk-in showers. The Pilgrims – the best of Somerset on a plate. ... more   less
