Julian and Sally have created a special place here. They are very warm and accommodating. I stayed during the Glastonbury festival and was coming and going at odd hours - they offered me breakfast in the middle of the afternoon, cleaned the rooms while we were gone in the evenings, and prepared a dinner one night when I wasn't able... Located in a very quiet part of the world this is a great place to chill out. The rooms are tastefully furnished and have everything you could want. Nice touches are books and magazines in the room. There is also a tea/coffee maker too. The restaurant is excellent, reasonably prices but local produce cooked to perfection. Gripes that would probably... More

We have now stayed at The Pilgrims some four times and thought it was about time I wrote the review it deserves. Jools and Sally are wonderful hosts and go the extra mile to ensure your stay is perfect and I think this is why we return again and again. There are five well appointed, tastefully decorated ensuite bedrooms and... More

We stayed three nights and really liked it. The room was modern and clean. The food was great. Especially the crab cakes and any of the cooked breakfasts. Lots of vegetarian options. Owners were very friendly.

Delicious food, really delicious, and with a great providence - locally sourced and best available. If you love food this is a real treat. And the rooms are lovely. Very cosy bed, great bathroom. Everything has been beautifully thought through. Sally and Jools are warm and provide a calm and beautiful welcome. I really enjoyed our visit and, unusually, felt... More

Have just returned from a night away from the kids at the Pilgrims Rest. Absolutely brilliant. The place itself admits to being "not the prettiest", and I must admit my husband and I did wonder whether we'd made the right choice when we pulled up in the car park. Any doubts we had were soon alleviated. The rooms are not... More

The relaxed, warm welcome from Sally is remarkable because she genuinely will do everything in her power to make your stay comfortable but equally, if you want to be left alone and just pitch up for meals, that's fine too. Because the rooms are reached through the back gate from the car park you don't feel that you are disturbing... More

The Pilgrims at Lovington was a bit of a surprise to us. Perhaps because we had not read the website sufficiently carefully, we had been expecting a traditional country inn. In fact the original property has been extended to provide a line of ground floor bedrooms. Our room was very contemporary in feel. Indeed some might feel that it was... More

Firstly, I would like you to know we are fussy people when it comes to where we stay and I am a very hard to please eater, as I cook and bake at home everyday. So, The Pilgrim was from our first step into the cosy bar with a log fire burning, a lovely surprise. Sally the owner welcomed us... More

We stayed for one night last weekend. There are two things we love about the Pilgrims. The first is that everything is done to the highest standard but in a down to earth, non fussy way. White Egyptian cotton bedding, bathrobes, a torch and umbrella for late night walks to the pub, saffron sauce at dinner, toast from homemade bread... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Pilgrims is a 4 star Restaurant with Rooms and holds 2 AA Rosettes. It's as relaxed as a country pub but the food is better than many a city restaurant - not least because all the ingredients come from 'just over the brow of the hill.' And the rooms are simply stunning, Egyptian cotton, king size beds, roll top baths and walk-in showers. The Pilgrims - the best of Somerset on a plate. ... more   less
