We enjoyed this charming hostel for the first stay in Tokyo. With free Breakfast, Raoul is very nice host. Nice living room with good wi-fi. We feel conformtable and secured, nice ambiance. Near Ueno station

Cosy, quirky guest house on convenient public transport links and walking distance from Asakusa and the Sky Tree. Friendly multi-lingual staff with good knowledge of local area and things to see and do in Tokyo. Would recommend.

I stayed in a single room for 3 night. The room is small but clean and comfortable. The wall-socket in my room was blocked by the bed so it's very hard to use, but it's just a small flaw. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I think It is a good choice for budget travellers if they don't mind... More

We stayed here while we were checking out Tokyo city. The closest JR station is Minami-Senju Station, and the Inn itself is about another 15 minute walk over the overpass an up the main street. Minami-Senju station is on the Joban line, only a few stops from the main ring rail line (the Yamanote line); hop off at Ueno or... More

The staff were very friendly and I believe I stayed a total of 3 nights, once in the beginning and two nights towards the end of my trip in Japan. Only thing: was there was no elevator, and the newbie to traveling I am, I had packed too much. But I was able to get some help up to my... More

very cute hostel place. It is clean, value for money. The owners have put in a lot of time decorating the place giving it great atmosphere. They provide coffee and cereal in the mornings. Showers are 100 yen for 5 mins i think from memory? which is all you need, or just chuck in another 100 if washing hair. We... More

welcoming even 'out of hours'.Excellent customer service.Value for money. A very 'local Japanese-style ,with western overtones,' guesthouse.Simple , basic accomodation.Very clean and a 'home away from home' feel to this ryokan establishment.A small converted suburban house , it was excellent for a taste of everyday middle class Japanese living. As a single traveller i would recommend it.Futon and tatami mats were... Staff was nice, location was convenient enough for Eastern Tokyo and the atmosphere in the lounge was great. Rooms were spacious enough, especially the one-person rooms were very nice. But I would suggest some math practice for the staff, we almost paid 5000 yen too much :)

The hotel is near to a train station. With a small walk you can even get to a busiest area. The room was a bit dirty when we arrived. rubbish in the bed a lots of dust and a smelly dirty fridge. Beds also full with hair does not look like they clean it! Next day we told it to... More

Location was fairly easy to find with convenient stores nearby. The room is comfortable / spacious enough except for the dusty air condition. Washroom/Showers are clean. Would be nice if staff was more hospitable.

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighborhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
