This hotel was advertised as a 3 star hotel according to my travel agent... well, except the location (convenient in regards with Ueno) and the helpful staff, the rest was disappointing. Very small room, even by Japanese standards. The kind where, if you have a case that needs to be open to have access to your stuff, well, your case... More

Location: Absolutely fantastic. You can get to Ueno station in minutes, which means easy access to multiple train lines, including to Narita airport. The Ueno area is top-notch for shopping, sightseeing, and eating. The streets directly around the hotel are pleasant and quiet, with a 24 hour convenience store just one block away. Service: The people at the front desk... More

This hotel is about 10 minutes away from the Ueno JR station in Tokyo area. The hotel is aging by the day but it does not imply a poorly maintain facility. Some areas of the wallpaper is peeling but would not constitute any alarm. It is very near to food outlets around the hotel as well a the Ameyoko Shopping... More

The location is incredibly close to Ueno station (2 minute walk), which makes it very convenient from Narita on the Keisei train. You are also right near a lot of shopping in Ueno (Ameyoko, Yodobashi Camera, Yamashiroya Toy Store) and right near Ueno Park, which is nice for a walk and to see the museums. You are also about a... The hotel is pretty close to Ueno JR station. If you get the Asakusa exit, turn slightly to the left and cross the big avenue. If you cross another ave again to reach the other side of the street, you're going to pass a small street on your right, and will turn right in the second street. Then keep going... More

I had a 20 hrs layover in Tokyo with airport transfer from Haneda to Narita. I chose this hotel because of it's proximity to Ueno Keisei Line station and it was cheap. Initially I had a hard time locating the hotel (I arrived at night) but I asked directions from the locals (were very helpful). I informed the hotel for... More

Very small bedroom (style modern japan style) Wifi not very good, and it is necessary to ask id/password in reception. Low price/quality ratio, we had a japanese friend that who helped us with booking and paying. Breakfast not included in the price of room. Expensive and not varied, and it has a limited and awkward time. Near center of Ueno.

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighborhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
