We stayed for 2 nights, great location close to underground , lots of restaurants nearby and senso Ji temple just around the corner. Room was good size for by Japanese standards. Staff were all lovely and very helpful. We had the Japanese breakfast which was very good. We loved our stay and would definately come here again when next in... More

Our family of 5 (3 teens) stayed overnight at a deluxe room. This is perfect for us as there is a divider to separate a couple from their kids. This is traditional style accommodation with beds consisted of mattress on tatami floors but it was comfortable. Bathroom was tiny though this seems to be the norm in Japan. It had... More

Once again, as in the past, Ryokan Kamogawa Asakusa presented us with a clean, comfortable and magnificently situated place to stay during the new year festivities at Sensoji Temple, which is literally a stone's throw away. The ryokan is right smack in the middle of all of the wonderful Asakusa action and atmosphere. Walk out of the front door, and... More

We arrived at the hotel at about 11:30pm from Haneda airport. We took a taxi van as it was late and we were tired with jetlag. It was approx. $100 CND for the 5 of us. was glad we took taxi because we would have had trouble finding it with jetlag and luggage. We had 2 rooms - one that... More

We had a family room for 2 adults and 2 teenagers tight but we managed. The location is fantastic, easy to find and we loved the village atmosphere. Staff very helpful and welcoming. Loved that we could book the onsen and relax after a long day. Breakfast was always good and again loved the tradition. Even though you are in... More

We all loved it there. Friendly staff and very close to railway station for easy access to all parts of Tokyo. They do a Western style breakfast as well. All in all a authentic Japanese experience,we highly recommend this.

From the perspective of a business traveller, this is not the best place to be. When you are into trying a traditional Japanese lodging, then perhaps yes. The thin, soft mattress is placed on some woven mats. Further the room gives a new meaning to the term "Spartan". The bathroom is a cubicle toilet/bath (and curtain for a shower). Of... More

At first, we appreciate you stayed our ryokan. In addition, thank you very much for your comment. Asakusa area is typical sightseeing area in Tokyo, not business area. However we do our best for our customers based on your comment. More

I loved this area of Tokyo, lots of restaurants, the nearby Sensoji Temple and market stalls of Nakamise st. This Ryokan is close to everything, the rooms were clean and comfortable, although being tall Australians the bathroom was a bit small. The staff were friendly and always happy to see you. We had the Japanese breakfast several times and it... More

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighborhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
