I loved this area of Tokyo, lots of restaurants, the nearby Sensoji Temple and market stalls of Nakamise st. This Ryokan is close to everything, the rooms were clean and comfortable, although being tall Australians the bathroom was a bit small. The staff were friendly and always happy to see you. We had the Japanese breakfast several times and it... More

A very friendly place to stay a night or two. The room was comfortable, clean, and had the nice amenities like a bathrobes, hot tea pot, tea serving set, TV, etc. It was a smaller room. They also had a hot bath on the first floor which was nice to use after a long day of walking. The hotel is... More

This sweet little Ryokan is tucked away down a side street next to the large Asakusa markets. A fabulous position, just a stroll from the main area of Asakusa. As with most Japanese accommodation the rooms were small but spotlessly clean and - if you cope with the traditional Japanese futon - comfortable. The staff were delightful and helpful. The... More

Nice Ryokan to stay, friendly staff, near Nakamise and Senso Ji Temple. I like the quite environment in Asakusa so its the right choice to stay in this place. This place is also near Asakusa Station and free wifi!

If you are looking for a traditional Ryokan right in the heart of Asakusa, this is the place! Just steps away from shopping, restaurants and the subway. We wanted a family-friendly place that was close to everything, and Ryokan Kamogawa Asakusa provided just that. Our tatami room fit the four of us perfectly. We had a private bathroom, but at... We chose to stay in a Ryokan for some our recent stay in Tokyo and were so glad to have closed Ryokan Kamogawa. Such friendly service from everyone who attends the front desk - especially the older gentleman who took the time to walk with us to all the local restaurants he recommended (all of which were excellent). Our room... More

Thank you for your stay. We certainly appreciate your kind review. Practically, our large bath on the ground floor is not a kind of "onsen" (hot-spring), but we are very honored by your words. The atmosphere of our bath is just like onsen. We are looking forward to welcoming you again. Thank you. More

I decided to book this hotel because I'd like to stay at Ryokan near Senso-ji temple at affordable prices. Kamogawa was the best answer for me. The rooms were new and clean. The futon was so comfy. I was upgraded to the Type B room at the 1st night. Then I left my luggage at the hotel for 1 night... More

The two of us stayed here for four nights and we were very happy with this accommodation overall. If you are used to western style hotels you may find staying at a ryokan a bit of a tight squeeze but we really couldn't fault the service , cleanliness, the breakfast (both Japanese and Western style) and general assistance provided. My husband and I and our two children, 13 and 11, stayed for 5 nights in a B type room and absolutely loved every minute. It was easy to get to from the airport via train at night and we were very surprised how much room we had -even with the four futons out we still had room around our... More

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighborhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
