This hotel is easy to access from JR Ueno, makes taking the train or shinkansen easy if you are doing day trips out of town. Room is small but that is the norm in Tokyo for the price you are paying. It is clean and comfortable. The only downside of the small room size is, your roommate/gf/bf will know what... More

This hotel is very well located. Personally I found the location quite convenient to tour Tokyo especially for first time visitors. Check-in was quick, we got our room keys within 10 minutes from the time we arrived at the hotel.... More

Okay, I am not going to talk more about location, price, or cleanliness because many people already did quite well. Here are a few comments from me. Staff are flexible. I am not going to tell you in details as it may cause the hotel to face difficulties when dealing with guests in the future. All I can guarantee is... More

A terrific small hotel in Ueno, easy to find and very clean and well set up. We had an extra bed put into the room to make it a 3 person room and it was totally fine. Not amazingly spacious but really pretty good. Plus we had a lot of bags because we were skiing. Perfect location for the Ueno... More

We chose this hotel for several reasons: the positive reviews on TA and the fact that it is in Ueno, a very pleasant district in Tokyo, so close to museums, markets and public transport, yet not so glitzy and touristy as the other areas. Once again, TA has hit the mark – so glad we booked this hotel as a... More

Excellent service, staff very helpful. When we arrived, it was still around 9am and they allowed us to check in early at around 10. Great location, the Ueno station is technically a stone throw from the hotel and you can go to the nearby Ameyoko market to enjoy local food. We stayed in a triple room and it is quite... More

The place is in a good area, and very easy to access from Ueno Station. Its on a pretty noisy alleyway though and near the main road, and the windows do not prevent sound to well. Because the location is close to both JR and Subway, so it's easily take your baby cart with you all the way. And you can easily go to Ueno park, Ueno Zoo and Ueno Shrine just within 10 minutes walk. Moreover this hotel is also near the Ameyoko market which have lot of stuff to buy.

We booked a four-night stay in this hotel as part of a stop over en-route to New Zealand. We opted for the long term stay discount (a package which is only available when booking directly with the hotel) and paid less than £50 per night which we thought was a great deal in Tokyo. The deal was for an economy... More

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighborhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
