We stayed at this hotel twice on our recent trip to Japan with family members. We were travelling with a toddler while another family member was travelling with a young baby. The family rooms are a great size giving plenty of space for our portacot and our toddler to move around. From a quick look in the other rooms they... More

It's difficult to find hotels that has the right combination of price, cleanliness, service, location, and particularly in Japan, space. Touganeya was one of the hotels we stayed at that offered the best combination of all. First of all, the location is extremely convenient, it's about a 5 minute walk from Ueno station, and you can take the underground pathway... More

We stayed here with our four month old baby in one of the family rooms. The family rooms were spacious (for Tokyo) and served us well. The staff were amazing, and couldn't do enough for us. We had bags delivered to the hotel, left things behind accidentally and even had bottles to sterilise in their microwave - all dealt with... More

Location is great. Very close to JR and Metro Station exit, 2 mins by walk. The room is small but functional and clean. All staff are friendly and speak English. Ta-Q-Bin, delivery service, is also available at the hotel, which is very comfortable. Wifi signal is very strong, even in the high floor. When it rains, umbrellas are placed in... More

Stay for 2 nights. For a single traveller, the room size is enough. Bed is a double and very comfortable. I have a good sleep. The staff at counter is polite and wear a smile all the times.

This hotel is easy to access from JR Ueno, makes taking the train or shinkansen easy if you are doing day trips out of town. Room is small but that is the norm in Tokyo for the price you are paying. It is clean and comfortable. The only downside of the small room size is, your roommate/gf/bf will know what... More

This hotel is very well located. Personally I found the location quite convenient to tour Tokyo especially for first time visitors. Having access to 4 Train lines made it easy to visit all the sites in our itinerary without any transfers. Check-in was quick, we got our room keys within 10 minutes from the time we arrived at the hotel.... More

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighborhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
