I stayed at Juyoh in December and had a wonderful time. It is of course a bit out of the tokyo city centre, but the public transport there is fine and the trip is well worth the money you pay. Also there are many landmarks that are easily accessible from Juyoh. The single person room was surprisingly spacious. The loft... More

Value for money since I only need a clean place to sleep and wash up...and yet not too far from the Minami senju rail station. We can walk for 10 minute to the station or hop on bus no 242 or 246 to reach the station and its free if you have a 1 day japan rail pass.

I strongly suggest this hotel located in Taito-Ku not far from Ueno Park and its cultural area. This small hotel not far from Minami-Seniju Metro station is cheap and really clean. You can also use the Japanese bath at the 10th floor. You can walk to Asakusa in 30 minutes and Ueno in 40 minutes.

The small room no bigger then a futon was nice and clean. Along with shared bathroom. A little bit of a walk to the metro station but only a problem if it was raining. Nice friendly staff available for directions and suggestions. great wifi!

this was a good surprise. i was expecting to pay a lot in Tokyo but this budget hotel is very good. there is a shared kitchen and a box for second hand clothes. Plenty of maps and info to visit the city and few useful sentences to use around. showers and toilets are clean, shampoo, soap towels and conditioners are... More

I really enjoyed staying at Juyuoh: 1. Location: very good. Yes, there is a bus stop just in front of the hotel but I have not used it, as the hotel is a short 10 min walk from the Minamisenju Metro station which brings you anywhere you want (buy a Passmo/Suica). 30-45 min is a pretty standard ride for a... Sleeping on futon is nice, even in December - the heating is OK. The place is very basic, but clean and a good value. Besides, there is no curfew - you can use password to open the side-door at night. Wi-fi is excellent. Showers free and good, but not on each floor. Rooms facing the street can be a bit... More

It is away from city center but there is a bus stop just in front of the hotel so not that bad to move around. The room is quite small and no bed- just futon(Japanese conforters) but it has a small fridge which you can store bento or some snacks. I didn't like the smoking smells... The guests here are... The staff are very friendly, strong free wifi in every floor, clean shower room tho it's not on every floor also clean toilet. The building looks worn out but after you stay there it won't be a matter ^_^. There's elevator and also stairs. You also can use their computer with internet for free at the common room. There's also... More

Situated close to minami-senju station, Juyoh hotel is a cheap option for budget travellers. Just a 5-10 min walk from the JR & Metro stations, friendly staff and clean facilities. The bedrooms themselves (I had 2) are quite dusty and this wasn't great for my allergies but I'm sure for most people it would be ok. Japanese room is comfortable... More

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighborhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
