I stayed for a few days in their single Tatami rooms and then a couple of nights at the budget loft rooms. BIG TIP: go for the LOFT if you're on a budget. The tatami experience is nice and kinda like novelty but it feels as if the entire floor is covered by your futon. This gave me bit of... More

I stayed here in late November 2014 and then again in December after returning to Tokyo after travelling to Vietnam and other parts of Japan. I speak no Japanese and the staff was incredibly friendly, there was a small earthquake that happened in Nagano and it shook the upper floors. The girl at the desk assured us it was OK... More

I stayed here for 6 days and all staff were great. They simply know customer service. Price is great for a hotel in Tokyo. Rooms are also clean and no rant at all. A good 15 minutes walk to Metro and JR station.

The more you stay, the cheaper it gets. It was my base when I went to Japan this year, I went to different places like Osaka, Kyoto and others and left most of my luggage there to make it easier to move from one place to the other. Very safe, walking distance from the Tokyo Skytree, clean, the staff was... More

I booked a single room japanese style. The room is decent, with tv, aircond and fridge, but its a bit smelly inside, maybe because its damp and windows are not opened? Left the window open when i went out so the smell is a lot less.just make sure you dont open it too big, otherwise pigeons will enter you room. Toilet/shower... More

Stayed at Juyol Hotel for 2 nights at the beginning of April 2015. Traveled with one another mate and stayed in single Japanese-Style rooms. Beds were really comfortable and bathroom just down the corridor. Wifi was included in my stay but breakfast was entirely up to me. Hotel was around ~10-15min walk from Minamisenju Station which linked to Ueno and... More

I stayed at Juyoh in December and had a wonderful time. It is of course a bit out of the tokyo city centre, but the public transport there is fine and the trip is well worth the money you pay. Also there are many landmarks that are easily accessible from Juyoh. The single person room was surprisingly spacious. The loft... More

Value for money since I only need a clean place to sleep and wash up...and yet not too far from the Minami senju rail station. We can walk for 10 minute to the station or hop on bus no 242 or 246 to reach the station and its free if you have a 1 day japan rail pass.

I strongly suggest this hotel located in Taito-Ku not far from Ueno Park and its cultural area. This small hotel not far from Minami-Seniju Metro station is cheap and really clean. You can also use the Japanese bath at the 10th floor. You can walk to Asakusa in 30 minutes and Ueno in 40 minutes.

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighborhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
