They have very clean rooms. They serve very nice Japanese breakfast, value for money in-term of taste and volume. The amount is too much for us expect my husband, we cannot finish the food. The location is good with a few good restaurants, a family-mart just a minute away and there is one more 7 eleven store nearby and a supermarket... Staff were very friendly, the man stayed up till 9pm and waited for me when I was due to arrive in Tokyo. Clean rooms and nice wash-room (with a lock) with large bath. The door is open all day and night so there are no curfews. The ryokan also had a small lift which was handy with my heavy bags.

Friendly, very welcoming staff host this Ryokan which is slightly off of the beaten track in a quiet residential area but also within a 5 min walk of Iriya station on the Hibiya line. Room was clean and spacious (by Japanese standards) with a fridge and en suite bathroom. Shower was perfect with water pressure that will pummel your skin... More

We stayed here for the start of our Intrepid tour, so we didn't actually pick it. But we were happy with it. The staff spoke enough English and the breakfast was like a dinner!! It's very near several mass transit stops. There are a number of cafes in the area and we also found a nice ramen noodle shop and... More

The location is good, close to Ireya subway station, Ueno station and the National museum. There are plenty of retaurants, bars and coffeee shops close by. The rooms are traditional Japanese style with futons and bambo matting. Despite concerns about my back problems I found the futon comfortable. The rooms are simple but have mod-cons such as flat screen TVs,... More

I lucked out with this one: it was a really nice place to stay - so much so that I extended my visit past the original six days for another week. The location is excellent: the hotel is situated on the Hibiya line, about ten minutes from Asakusa Temple, and not far from Ueno Park. The Japanese-style room was a... More

I went twice to Sakura Ryokan while I was in Tokyo, in 2008 for 1 week in August and in 2012 for 1 week in March. And whe I come back to Japan, you are sure I am going there again. Let me tell you that I definitely love this little hotel. Ok, it is not luxurious, but tiny and... More

We had an excellent time staying at the Sakura ryokan in Tokyo. We stayed for a total of 5 nights in a Japanese style room and were very comfortable the entire time. I loved the fact that there was free wifi in the rooms, which was great for Skype and general googling. The owners were very friendly and the mother... More

I'm just going to do this in a "pros and cons" format. PROs: 1. Very cheap room rate. 2. Great breakfast (western buffet breakfast is hard to find in Tokyo for less than $15/person, here it is $8 for better food). 3. Good location in relation to public transit and cool stores (where you can buy great kitchen tools and... More
