Look, with hotels in Japan, you need to understand that your room will be small. Once you get past that, you can start to appreciate things a bit better. That being said, this hotel was brilliant. Great staff, good location, a nice lounge on the top floor with a beer machine, and clean as a whistle. This hotel is amazing... More

This hotel is located in an excellent location with easy access to Asakusa and Asakusa station (5 minute walk). The rooms are in a Japanese style and like many rooms in Tokyo are quite compact. They are very cosy and I felt very at home here. There's a space on the top floor to eat dinner/have your own drinks. I... More

Excellent location in charming Asakusa/Sensoji Temple area, great access to public transportation. Good and filling breakfast with nice view from rooftop lounge; both Japanese and Western options available. Access to coin-operated washer and dryer was great. Robes, origami cranes, and tea in room were a very nice touch. Very clean and quiet. Would stay again, highly recommend. Love the toilet... More

Room was small (9 m sq only) but I'm okay with it as I didn't bring much luggage. Breakfast was complimentary which is good. Location is very good, 1 min from Toei Asakusa exit 2b (got elevator) and 3 mins from Metro Asakusa exit 4, meaning close to tourist spots in Asakusa!!! Staffs were good in english and very helpful... More

Thank you very much for staying at Asakusa Hotel Hatago. We are relieved to hear that you had a nice stay and our staff were helpful eventhough a room was small. The location of our hotel is very convenient. The closest station is Exit A2b from Toei Asakusa Line Asakusa Staion(A18). Exit A3 is the easiest if you are inside... More

Stayed with my family for 5 days here. We got two rooms - the one I was in was more than spacious enough, considering Japanese standards. The hotel was always kept clean. The staff are very friendly and can speak and converse in English. Also a very convenient location; it was near the Tokyo Skytree and the Sensoji Temple. Overall... More

Lodging was small, but the hotel and location was excellent. Near Asakusa station, which links to the rest of Tokyo. Near great shopping areas too! Breakfast area is amazing at night (turns into free area from 1500 - 2300).

3 minute walk from station. Front desk people all spoke English and were very helpful with directions to all the sites that we wanted to see, they gave us maps and even looked up a restaurant that we wanted to go to on the internet. Rooms are small, but that is Tokyo! Cute yakata robes and folded cranes on our... More

We arrived late on a Monday night after flying in from Sydney. The hotel was a 3 minute walk from Asakusa station (on the Asakusa line), really easy to find (google maps and pocket wifi a must!). Check in was easy, we paid for the stay with card (Cash Passport) and there was no trouble, unlike many places in Japan... More

This was quite a lucky find for us. The hotel was new and clean. The room was small but very nicely furnished. There was little to no room for your luggage but that is not unusual for Japan, especially Tokyo. The 9th floor lounge had a nice view across the river and was nice to sit up there for a... More

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighborhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
