This is the 3rd time back at Ueno, first time that I have stayed here, so glad I did. Great service, comfy and clean rooms... very classy and cant wait to return. Very good location to all that Ueno offers, Markets, shops, park, zoo and JR rail station.

I can't imagine staying in a better location than this hotel. It is right by the train to the airport, the train and subway all over the city, Ueno park with museums and zoo, countless restaurants. The room is a bit small for 2 people but this is Tokyo. Would definitely stay here again.

Hotel is convenient if to and from Narita airport is important. The Keisei Skyline takes you to the Keiseiueno Station which is right next to the Ueno Station which is just across the street from the hotel - fast and inexpensive. So transportation to/from airport and rest of Tokyo is extremely convenient. Ueno is close to Akasuka, Senso-ji Temple and... More

My husband and 7 month old baby stayed for 3 nights and cannot fault anything. I booked a moderate double room and was expecting a tiny room due to the tripadvisor reviews but was pleasantly surprised on how spacious the room was. Due to an early flight we arrived to the hotel at 9:30am. The room was not ready (check... More

The rooms at this hotel are very basic and somewhat small. However, they are very clean and have special products for women such a facial steam machine. The location is wonderful!! Hotel is located right across the street from the Ueno JR station which makes sight seeing and getting around Tokyo so, so convenient. It is also within walking distance... More

We stayed here 7 nights on business and could not fault, yes the rooms are smaller than Aust but were efficient and modern and clean. Ueno was a great location, easy to get to from the airport, easy hub to explore Tokyo, plenty of shopping and food close by. The staff were so helpful they came across the road to... More

Just got back from staying for five nights here. We stayed in a twin bedroom. We booked directly with the hotel (after subscribing to their membership). The room was reserved without a credit card guarantee. I was a bit worried at first but was assured by Japanese colleagues that this is a common practice for hotels in Japan. For transportation,... If you plan to stay in Ueno area, I recommend this hotel. Very convenient as it is near the metro stations and the JR stations, within walking distance! Very conveniently located near restaurants, bars, pachinko shops, convenient shops and also near all attractions in Ueno area! The breakfast provided are very good - wide choices in an Italian restaurant! The... More

The Mitsui Garden Hotel Ueno is situated in a nice spot of Tokyo (near the park and the National Museum) where there are good Restaurants (Ueno, Asakusa). The rooms are nice, the room cleaning and the front desk efficient and friendly (much better than at the Mitsui Garden Hotel Yotsuya). Be careful not to visit Tokyo during the japanese golden... Reserved a basic double room and it was everything I expected as a frequent traveller to Japan. The location was crazy close to the station which will make any visit to Tokyo acceasible. It's literally across the above ground pedestrian walkway. Service was great. Clean. Great. All amenities included. Fairly new and in new like state. If there was a... More

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighborhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
