All of the staff at this hotel (front dest, cleaning, restaurant) were smiling, friendly, and really seem to want to make guests comfortable. They were the most pleasant of my stay, and that's saying a lot in Tokyo where personnel are almost always so kind. The room was clean, the amenities were fun, and I was lucky enough to be... More

My wife any I only had a short time to visit Tokyo, and this was a great location to do that from. Uneo Park (and everything it has to offer) and the JR station were right across the street and made exploring the city easy. The hotel was very clean and quiet. The staff was very helpful. We were surprised... More

Good value, excellent location, across the street from JR Ueno station. We came to go to the zoo (which was great for a few hours). Lots to see and wander around in the Ueno area. The hotel is functional in design - no frills, but a great choice for a simple night's accommodation. Breakfast in the downstairs restaurant looked good... More

Love the location. Room is normal by Japanese standard, not small at all. Ueno is one of the hubs to go to everywhere else in Tokyo/other areas. There is a convenient store just across the street (walk out of the hotel, turn right, and cross the road), which is very convenient indeed! Lots and lots of food options, from great... More

After much research (hours!) we committed to this hotel for our week stay in Tokyo. We weren't disappointed. The hotel is immaculately clean, the staff are incredibly helpful and all have a good command of English. I was expecting the rooms to be tiny but we were pleasantly surprised. Our room had plenty of space for a large double bed,... More

Service: All staffs were helpful. I asked to keep my suitescase after I checked out, and she willingly to accepted. Breakfast: It was excellent!! Buffet style and all... More

Everything about this hotel was great, room fantastic and not too small; a few steps from Ueno station which is very convenient, the staff was extremely friendly and spoke good engligh. They have a eco room option if you want to save a bit of money - we took it and it was perfectly fine. Getting to the train that... More

Room size is consider pretty decent for space-constraints Japan, especially the toilet (it is ok). Standard economy bed size. Modern, clean, staffs are friendly and understands English. No hassle during check-in & check-out. Shopping streets, foods and entertainment are just a stone throw away. Avid runner will favour this area as the Ueno Garden is just around, hence, making running... More

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for a week during our honeymoon before heading off to Osaka. The hotel is conveniently located near the JR Ueno Station which made exploring the various parts of Tokyo a breeze. Upon arrival, we took the train which ran from Narita to Ueno directly. The staff were very friendly and were able... More

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighborhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
