We stayed here 7 nights on business and could not fault, yes the rooms are smaller than Aust but were efficient and modern and clean. Ueno was a great location, easy to get to from the airport, easy hub to explore Tokyo, plenty of shopping and food close by. The staff were so helpful they came across the road to... More

Just got back from staying for five nights here. We stayed in a twin bedroom. We booked directly with the hotel (after subscribing to their membership). The room was reserved without a credit card guarantee. I was a bit worried at first but was assured by Japanese colleagues that this is a common practice for hotels in Japan. For transportation,... If you plan to stay in Ueno area, I recommend this hotel. Very convenient as it is near the metro stations and the JR stations, within walking distance! Very conveniently located near restaurants, bars, pachinko shops, convenient shops and also near all attractions in Ueno area! The breakfast provided are very good - wide choices in an Italian restaurant! The... More

The Mitsui Garden Hotel Ueno is situated in a nice spot of Tokyo (near the park and the National Museum) where there are good Restaurants (Ueno, Asakusa). The rooms are nice, the room cleaning and the front desk efficient and friendly (much better than at the Mitsui Garden Hotel Yotsuya). Be careful not to visit Tokyo during the japanese golden... Reserved a basic double room and it was everything I expected as a frequent traveller to Japan. The location was crazy close to the station which will make any visit to Tokyo acceasible. It's literally across the above ground pedestrian walkway. Service was great. Clean. Great. All amenities included. Fairly new and in new like state. If there was a... More

Location is excellent. Within walking distance from Ueno station. If ure coming by Keisei skylines, and wants an accessible location, this hotel is recommended. Staff are very helpful and always smiling. Will be back here the next time I'm in Tokyo.

Wonderfully convenient location right next to Ueno train station. Lots of restaurants and bars in the area, as well as Ueno park. Hotel was comfortable and clean. Wifi worked and breakfast was lovely. Varied and generous. Staff was very helpful with pointers regarding where to go in the area. Was very pleasantly surprised by this reasonably priced hotel.

The hotel location is well located to explore Ueno attractions (museum, Ameyoko, etc). Also located near enough for transport connections within Tokyo, outside Tokyo and also to Narita Airport, but not too near to noise. Hotel vicinity was generally safe. Room size for superior double was good, so were room amenities. Very modern fixtures, bed was also comfortable. One of... More

We stayed at this hotel for six nights in a superior double. The room is quite small (as many rooms in Tokyo are) but not too small. The bathroom is great and the room has many useful amenities - I really enjoyed the massage cushion after a long day out. The bed is very comfortable (though you can only get... More

We spent five days here and really enjoyed our stay. The staff are very friendly and helpful and respond quickly to any request. Some are more proficient with English than others but they try very hard to understand. The room has a myriad of amenities and a special basket for ladies with robe and facial machine. There also was a... More

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighborhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
