Although room was small, it was a pleasant stay. The receptionist was friendly and we were allowed to store our luggage at the hotel when we went to Hokkaido in between our stay in Ueno. Location was good also, near to train station. It also served breakfast with a few choices.

A couple streets away from Ameyoko and less than 10 min walk from Ueno station. Super convenience place and decent price but because of that the room (single) is very small. In room wifi, electric kettle, tv, aircon all came with the room worked well. Stayed there about a week and laundry machine and vending machines were handy. Breakfast though... More

The double room we booked was teeny tiny but that's fairly typical for that price range in Tokyo. The major downside was that an unpleasant drain smell from the ensuite filled the room. Also, the wifi didn't work on our floor. The staff were nice but not as ready to help as you would usually find in Japan. The free... More

We were having holiday in japan for 23days in December, and we stayed in this hotel in Tokyo. This hotel has been our hotel in tokyo since 2012 as we visited Japan every year since 2012.  Stayed in this hotel on 22nd, 24th and 26th to 28th respectively. The hotel staff kept my luggage for me since i am checking... More

5-10minute walk from okachimachi station with Reasonable price but breakfast was a little disappointed me because double room price is about ¥8,000 you can get only cheap food like pancake, slides toast, hotdog and drink you can get self service juices and just coffee.

This hotel was well priced and good value for money. It was a bit hard to find after a late arrival as it isn't really shown on many maps. The room was small (as expected) but had everything needed. It was quite tidy, and found that we slept very well. Very close to the access to the train line, and... More

This is my second stay in sardonyx Ueno. First trip was last year May2013 where i stayed for 4 nights. This year I stayed 3 nights. The hotel itself is very very convenient, with Oedo line, Ginza Line, Hibiya Line and JR line with less than 5 minutes walk til the gate, not the exit of station. The hotel is... More

This is a very clean & calm hotel with a very reasonable price.. Well located just a few steps from the market, the Ueno metro station is just a 5 minutes walk, the 7Eleven is on the corner and the staff are very kind and helpful, I had no complaints at all. I will return to it in the future.

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighborhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
