The Hotel is average with not much offer, the best thing is great location and shopping place is walking distance, the air-con in room just provide heating only, you just can adjust Lower Hot or Highest Hot. It's very stuffy when stay longer in room, luckily the window could be open around one inch. Just a small thing, both waitresses... More

One of the male staff is very impatient with answering the questions. I felt not respected and very disappointed with the service. Even though I only stay for one night, I really don't think it's a proper way to treat the guest.

It was a good stay but it was a bit hard to find the hotel. I left the train at a stay that was slightly further (10 minutes walk) so it was difficult to find it. The hotel room is just like most of the ones I've seen in Japan, small. After I found the hotel I realized that it... More

I was in this hotel for two nights in a single room accommodation. The room is small but very convenient, with all needed amenities and enough space for one person. The location is very good, just 5 minutes walking from Ueno train station. The price was really good (with breakfast included). I strongly recommend this hotel for couples and singles... More

Staying in Ueno with walking access to Ueno Station surely has its advantages, the location factor is best as far as this property is concerned. The rooms are average size by Tokyo standards, with basic amenities.

This hotel has a very small frontage and is not as impressive as in the picture . However , the room is clean , tidy and quiet. The hotel is at least a 10 mins walk from the Ueno station and the yellow sign board of the Hotel is in Japanese and thus difficult to know if you do not... More

I have been to Tokyo many times, but stayed in Shinjuku and Ginza mostly, and I chose to stay in Ueno this time as its very close to Keisei Skyliner Express Station which saved much time to go between downtown Tokyo and Narita Airport. Hotel Sardonyx Ueno just 5 minutes walk from Keisei Ueno Station, cross the main road and... More

Stayed here for 2 nights, and booked a small double room. The room was small, but could fit our stuff. All basic amenities were provided, and breakfast is free at their restaurant on the 1st floor. Breakfast is served from 645-915AM and you can choose between 4 types of meals. If travelling with luggage, its better to alight at JR... More

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighborhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
