The Khaosan Tokyo Origami is easily the best hostel I've ever stayed in. Unlike other hostels where you have to sleep in the same space as other traveler's, you have some privacy when you sleep. Your bed is located in a little cubby hole that you can conceal with a thick curtain, similar to a capsule hotel except more inviting.... More

The hostel is in a great location just behind senso-ji temple. The staff were friendly and helpful and the dorm bunks were comfortable with decent privacy. The communal area was very spacious. Good choice for budget travel.

Very good location- just next to the Asakusa temple and traditional streets with all the goods, and also not very far from Tokyo Skytree- the tallest building in Japan. Despite that, the hostel is quiet and warm, with a colorful lobby, nice kitchen and living room and a very friendly staff- recommended!

This branch is quite new I think so everything looks great. I like how spacious the bunk beds are and the curtains per bed. I stayed at the top of the bunk bed and it doesn't squeak everytime I climb in. The bed is comfortable and the sheets are great. It has 8 floors, 7 and 8th are common areas.... More

This hostel was newly built, around october if im not mistaken. Here are my feedback: Pros: 1. Service: all of the staff can speak english and have a nice smile once you enter the hostel. We booked a private room for the three of us and were very delighted with our stay. The staff was helpful and offered any information we may need. Our rooms were very clean and offered tradition Japanese style futon beds. The room was a tad small for westerners but a normal size for Japan. We were still all able to... More

The hostel was only opened a week before my stay. As expected, everything was new and clean. I stayed in an 8-bedded capsule-style dorm room. The bed was soft and comfortable and each capsule unit was roomy. The air-conditioning was great as well, even after closing the curtains, the capsule was still fairly cool. In-room WIFI coverage was excellent, which... More

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighborhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
