I loved this hotel! The location was great, the staff was excellent and the rooms were very clean. Some people will say that the rooms were "cramped", but if you're traveling to Japan, you have to accept the fact that Japan is a very populated country and rooms are going to be smaller than most rooms you're used to. I... More

Hotel is kind of basic, Japanese style so very small rooms, but also very confortable, clean, practical. I'm more used to huge 4-5 stars hotel, but I had a great stay there. Yes I've been kind of " shocked " when I entered my room and saw how small it was, but finally, I was really well. The only bad... More

Came back again to this nicely located hotel, very convenient to subway station and also a lot shopping and dining possibilities in walking distance. The rooms are OK, for Europeans maybe a bit small but that's probably in most hotels in the center... Also breakfast has a big variety (Asian and western as well..). Would come back again if in... The Metropolitan is conveniently located near the Metropolitan Exit of the huge Ikebukuro station. Not only it is very easy to find but the area around the hotel is quieter and less crowded than the East side of the station. Take the entrance which is under the big Bicycle sign, only 50 meters away from the hotel, and you arrive... More

My wife and I booked a 'superior double room' for two nights. The room we were allocated (1836) was cramped with one side of the bed hard up against one wall so that one could not get in and out of bed that side (and the bedside cabinet on the other side was fixed in place, so one could not... Travelling as a family with 2 kids (4 and 6 yrs) we needed a room big and comfortable enough and in a convenient location to serve as our base to explore Tokyo. This hotel ticked all the boxes! Very happy with our stay.

I stay here for business whenever I travel to Tokyo. The hotel location is very close to one of the largest train stations in the city as well as a wealth of activity. The staff is polite and helpful. The rooms are about average size for a Japanese hotel, and they are very clean. I think that the breakfast is... More

This hotel is centrally located in one of the five major city centers of Tokyo. The metro station is minutes away connecting you to almost anywhere you need to go. Shops and restaurants also nearby. Service at the hotel itself is basic, food overpriced and rooms very small, however for somewhere to sleep it's great for the price it is.... More

This huge thing, rising above one side of IKEBUKURO JR station, is almost a city itself. We like : - 15 000 a night, room only, can't beat either the location, nor the very reasonable price. Endless choices surrounds the hotel. Right on the Yamanote. Tobu, Sebu, Parco, etc, etc ... - Everything you may expect from a business hotel... More

Recently stayed at this hotel for 11 days.Excellent ,comfortable hotel.Centrally located. Ikebukuru train station is just 2 minutes away which is very accessible when you are visiting Shibuya,Harajuku and Shinjuku.Just take the Yaminote line and you cant get lost.Be sure to look for the Metropolitan south exit when you are going back to the hotel as it is quite daunting... Staying in Ikebukuro

Neighborhood Profile
Ikebukuro
Ikebukuro is an area of massive development. Several thousand tenants occupy two giant department stores and shopping malls, where all sorts of shopping and gourmet foods can be enjoyed. The 60-story building at the east entrance of the station, Sunshine City, is a landmark within Ikebukuro and features an aquarium, planetarium, theme park as well as an observation platform. The popular name for the western side of this area is "Otome Road" (Maiden Road) and there are many shops selling products related to anime with a female theme. It has rapidly become the worldwide headquarters for ‘otaku’ or geek culture.
