Nice hotel. Rooms are on the smaller side with not much space to walk about after laying down my luggage, but it's nothing surprising for Tokyo hotels. Staff were helpful and polite. From my room Mt Fuji could be seen in a distance away and I thought that was a pretty neat thing to experience. Location-wise, it is located next... More

The hotel is near Ikebukuro station (just a few minutes walk ) which is very comfortable to travel with the JR line. Nearby the hotel is metropolitan plaza, Tobu shopping mall and so many interesting places which provide eateries, convenient store etc. the services was good, the concierge provided us a small map and give us info about how to... For those looking for a convenient hotel located a few paces away from the Ikebukuro Station with many different options for food and shopping, then I would recommend the Hotel Metropolitan in Ikebukuro. The hotel room was tight but did have two queen beds and we were able to set up our three large suit cases and still maneuver around... More

Stayed there for a couple of days in middle of July with family including children. First up kindly note that there are smoking and non-smoking rooms which unfortunately to no fault of the hotel we were booked into their superior floors but smoking room. They did their best but couldn't change to non-smoking room. The residual smoke smell wasn't too... More

Located in the center of a quite convenient area of Ikebukuro, this hotel is at its best. You could go into shopping malls, train station, city-sightseeing and nice restaurants.. all within the walking distance. The Standard Room is rather small but comfortable, with a Japanese Standard amenities such as pajamas and fancy toiletries from Shiseido that I love so much…... More

I have been traveling to Japan since 1991 and have always enjoyed my stay in metropolitan. The hotel service is great and this hotel is strategic for quite a couple of land tour pickup and limousine and narita express. Narita express From 8:30 am to 7pm, you should have no issue getting direct transport nex narita express to the station.... More

We got the 3 bed config and it was spacey enough for Tokyo hotel space standards. Accessiblity was excellent. JR station + Tokyo subway station and the department store was across the street. Family Mart, Seven Eleven and Lawsons are on the next block.

Clean and quiet, though tiny room in business hotel. Polite and attentive staff made this stay very pleasant. Hotel is located in Ikebukuro, friendly neighborhood near to metro and JR station (Narita express) and surrounded by malls and restaurants. Actually only problem in Tokyo was that ATM's accepting Visa/Master card is surprisingly hard to find!

We came here on our honeymoon and it was perfect because we came to Tokyo to explore so we were hardly in the rooms. However, the times that we were there the hotel staff were very accommodating and helpful. The food in the hotel was good but very expensive. They also service an airport limousine but it's a bit pricey... More

On a family trip I stayed here for five nights. The staff of the Met-Hotel was very friendly, like everywhere in Japan, the difference was that in this hotel many people of the staff really speak english and even spanish. Mr. Saito was a very kind and welcoming host, he gave my husband a lot of tips and was always... More

Staying in Ikebukuro

Neighborhood Profile
Ikebukuro
Ikebukuro is an area of massive development. Several thousand tenants occupy two giant department stores and shopping malls, where all sorts of shopping and gourmet foods can be enjoyed. The 60-story building at the east entrance of the station, Sunshine City, is a landmark within Ikebukuro and features an aquarium, planetarium, theme park as well as an observation platform. The popular name for the western side of this area is "Otome Road" (Maiden Road) and there are many shops selling products related to anime with a female theme. It has rapidly become the worldwide headquarters for ‘otaku’ or geek culture.
