I like the ikebukuro area because there are a lot of great restaurants etc but has a smaller feel than other areas- and this hotel is within a 5-10 minute walking distance of the ikebukuro train line. The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and helped us book activities when we asked. The room is small, but efficiently spaced and I... More

It was high season and we made the booking late so this was about the last hotel with available rooms. Ikebukuro area is nice at day time and the location is good - 7 min walk from ikebukuro station which is a central station with a lot of connecting trains, including a direct train to the airport every 90 minutes.... Apa Hotel is a chain of Japanese standard hotel, service is great as everything in Japan from check in to check out goes smoothly. The room was great, with a robe- kimono style change everyday, sleeper and a lot of shampoo and creams. The room was spacious enough and extremely clean, the Hotel has a restaurant in the ground floor which... More

I was shock with the positive feedbacks given by some travellers! This is the first time in my life that I stayed in a hotel with no air-con! I realised that the air con is warn and went down to check with the reception. To my surprise, the receptionist says the air con is always warm! And he advise me... More

Really pleasant stay, staff were friendly and the rooms very clean and functional. Was a bit tricky to find initially but someone helpful pointed the way. Lots of restaurants around and the subway is walking distance making it incredibly accessible. Lively neighborhood, but no noise in the room.

Overall the hotel was great, but it was cheaper then some of the more budget locations I stayed at in Tokyo. The only noticeable difference between this one and those more budget options were the much nicer decor and nice bath products - not worth the extra $ for me, really. Excellent wifi, great staff, immaculately clean, close to transit...... More

The room was small but it is expected in Tokyo. Location was great as it was only less than 3 minutes walk from the train station and restaurants. The bed was too soft but it did not compromise sleeping quality as the room has good air conditioning.

Stayed there for 3 days. A clean and convenient hotel for a short stay. The bed was comfy despite of being soft, I was concerned as I have back problems but it was ok. The room is functional but very small, no space to open a big suitcase. The bath drain had some problems but could not have it solved... More

conveniently located. short walk to ikebukuro station. close to dining and shopping. this is a budget hotel but is very clean and has a friendly helpful staff. i stayed here for 9 nights with my wife. because of the size of the room, i could stay here again but only for a few nights as the smallness of the room... this is a very neat and clean hotel within walking distance of ikebukuro station. the room was very well maintained. the staff is very polite and helpful. the small but nice bathtub helps relive the days stress. though the room is a bit small, it is the norm with japanese hotels. i enjoyed the stay

Staying in Ikebukuro

Neighborhood Profile
Ikebukuro
Ikebukuro is an area of massive development. Several thousand tenants occupy two giant department stores and shopping malls, where all sorts of shopping and gourmet foods can be enjoyed. The 60-story building at the east entrance of the station, Sunshine City, is a landmark within Ikebukuro and features an aquarium, planetarium, theme park as well as an observation platform. The popular name for the western side of this area is "Otome Road" (Maiden Road) and there are many shops selling products related to anime with a female theme. It has rapidly become the worldwide headquarters for ‘otaku’ or geek culture.
