I don't usually like to stay in a B&B as the bathrooms are shared. However, my friend and I decided to try House Ikebukuro as it is cheap for the period we are travelling. Location is 3 mins from Ikebukuro West exit C1. However, a walk from JR platform to House might take you 15 - 20 mins depending on... More

good location at ikebukuro, and i really appreciate how clean and community-like the place is. we stayed in both annex and main building at different occasions (tokyo was our starting and departure point), and while the annex really gave you more space and stuff, we found ourselves wandering back to the communal kitchen for breakfast to chit chat with others... Hi, I stayed here with my friend while in Tokyo for 2 nights in late 2009. It was only $79 total for the room per night, including a western breakfast in the morning. The rooms are very small and like every place I stayed in Japan, the pillows leave a lot to be desired! but I was extremely impressed with... More

We chose this place based on the reviews from tripadvisor - and we certainly have no regrets! Mrs Chen and her staff were friendly and accommodating. She allowed us to check in early as the room was available and this is definitely much appreciated after a night flight and helped to book tickets. There is free bread for breakfast and... More

Out of all the places that I've stayed in Tokyo, this has to be one of the best. Not only is it located in Ikebukuro, a place where you can always find things to do, Mrs. Chen and other staff are extremely accommodating as well. The shared toilets and shower are very clean and the rooms are comfortable and cosy.... More

Good location, excellent service, very clean and neat. If you do not mind sharing the toilet and bathroom, this is definitely a place to stay. Mrs Chen is very friendly and it is good that the staff can speak English and Chinese. We have breakfast provided as well, beyond expectation. Great value.

Overall, this small family house is a very clean and budget place to stay in Tokyo. 5 mins walking distance from Ikebukuro station (very convenient place to stay, with good connection to subway and JR yamanote line). Room size is adequate for 2 persons, toilets and shower rooms are clean, free drinking water, coffee and green tea, complimentary usage of... More

Stayed at house ikebukuro for 3 days and this ryokan met our expectation and beyond after we compared with the transfer to another ryokan during our five days stay in tokyo. The sheets were clean and all the basic essentials were provided, toilet and shower rooms were clean and well maintained. We stayed in the annex as there were 3... More

I was initially hesistant but house owner, Mrs Chen, is very welcoming and nice. It's like a family home. Many Singaporeans and Taiwanese like the place. She speaks Japanese and Chinese. Shared toilets but very clean. Excellent place.

This hostel exceeded our expectation beyond imagination. The sheets were clean and all the basic essentials were provided just like a regular Japanese home away from home. We stayed in the annex as there were 3 of us and we enjoyed using the living room, the extremely pleasant shower (it's so comfortable that it feels like a five star hotel)... More
