I had a heavy luggage and being close to the exit is of utmost importance. Literally less than 1 min away from the exit. It was also located in a relatively lively area which was important for solo female traveller. The room had a smoky smell though. Also, there is a elevator up from another exit. Good to find out... This hotel is just outside north exit. Very convenient location. It's kind of old and a bit noisy because of trains. But these are not unbearable and its price is good for just one person. No Wifi, only cable internet connection. Will recommend for solo traveler who just goes back to hotel for shower and sleep (spends most time outside)... More

Stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. Hotel is ideally located right at the exit of the Ikebukuro Train Station exit. After a long day of sightseeing and shopping, the hotel is right by the exit of the station. The hotel is also situated close to numerous good restaurants. Hotel staff is friendly and knowledgeable! Compared to other hotel rooms... More

I stayed at Hotel Sun City Ikebukuro for 3 nights with my children a few years ago. The selling point of this hotel is the location which is unbeatable. It is right across the street from the north exit of the Ikebukuro station. I booked a room for a triple room, which was a regular twin room with an extra... More

Reserved a single room in this hotel which was about 9.5 sq m, based on good reviews below. was not disappointed. PLUS POINTS -LOCATION- a zebra crossing away from the north exit ! something i looked forward to after pavement pounding. SAFETY- prime consideration for solo female travellers. it was located on a busy road and while it was near... More

I went with a friend on a leisure, free & easy trip to Tokyo and we chose this hotel because the reasonable price and superb location seem perfect for us. The hotel is situated right opposite the north exit of Ikebukuro station, which makes it a relief to return to after each day out shopping/sightseeing. Furthermore, Ikebukuro being the second... Great location which is just across the road from North exit of Ikebukuro station. The staff are very helpful and room size is just right. Convenience stores, eateries and lots of interesting shops just around the corner. To book directly through the hotel website, you will need to enroll as a member first. However, there is only Japanese version for... More

Staying in Ikebukuro

Neighborhood Profile
Ikebukuro
Ikebukuro is an area of massive development. Several thousand tenants occupy two giant department stores and shopping malls, where all sorts of shopping and gourmet foods can be enjoyed. The 60-story building at the east entrance of the station, Sunshine City, is a landmark within Ikebukuro and features an aquarium, planetarium, theme park as well as an observation platform. The popular name for the western side of this area is "Otome Road" (Maiden Road) and there are many shops selling products related to anime with a female theme. It has rapidly become the worldwide headquarters for ‘otaku’ or geek culture.
