Lot of food options, Japanese, Chinese, cafe, KFC etc and also a Family Mart convenient store. Hotel was small with small room and double bed not queen size bed. Hotel not new but everything... The location is excellent. Only few minutes from Mejiro St. which is one of the stations of JR train loop line. We were 3 adults in a triple room which had a little space but it didn't metter at all, since staff & location were great. We didn't book breakfast (they had only Japanese style) but at Mejiro station there... More

I chose to return to this hotel five years after my past visit to save some money upon my travel expenses. It is at Mejiro station, which is central and a JR Yamanote loop line stop. This comes in handy for a JR Pass user, because the line brings to almost every major attraction and railway. There are a few... More

I visited between Christmas and New Year day and managed to get a double room although the price varied per night (from Yen 11,800 to 21,800).The room was clean up nicely everyday with amenities fully replenished. Only comment is the central heat system was very unpredictable. Our room was very warm (can say hot) the first 4 nights but the... More

Want to spend less than 10,000 yen per night in Tokyo near a convenient train station? Don't want Toyoko Inn because it is full of package tourists in locations that are cheaper (i.e a further walk from stations?). Well, we chose Richmon Mejiro. Only 6 minutes by JR Yamanote train to Shinjuku and 4 minutes from Ikebukuro.... at a lower... More

I visited this hotel twice, in October, 2013 and July, 2014. First of all, very good place. Just near the Mejiro station of Yamanote line, JR. It's so easy to connect any part of Tokyo! Mejirodori is very interesting street, it's quite modern and quite traditional. You can walk along this street in the morning or evening. There are some... More

We stayed almost 2 weeks at this hotel in Tokyo, it is very nicely located right near the Mejiro subway station. This station is in the middle of Shinjuku and Ikebukuro, which are two of the vibrant areas in Tokyo. There are many nice restaurants nearby and the hotel is very good value for money. The rooms were always cleaned... More

Staying in Ikebukuro

Neighborhood Profile
Ikebukuro
Ikebukuro is an area of massive development. Several thousand tenants occupy two giant department stores and shopping malls, where all sorts of shopping and gourmet foods can be enjoyed. The 60-story building at the east entrance of the station, Sunshine City, is a landmark within Ikebukuro and features an aquarium, planetarium, theme park as well as an observation platform. The popular name for the western side of this area is "Otome Road" (Maiden Road) and there are many shops selling products related to anime with a female theme. It has rapidly become the worldwide headquarters for ‘otaku’ or geek culture.
