We stayed here in January 2016 for 5 nights in a standard room (no window). Check in was efficient with a self service kiosk. The staff are very friendly, but their English was a little limited. There are lots of brochures and maps that the hotel has made. The room itself was a little tired. The bed was hard and... More

I love that the hotel is near mejiro station. There's a great cafe at the station with a wide variety of breads. The town mejiro is also lovely to have a stroll. However we travelled as a family of six and booked two rooms and they gave us a very small room with just a queen bed. 3 of us... More

I stayed one night at Richmond. Reserved a room without window. The room had a window (perhaps I was upgraded), although it was just the wall of another building when I opened it. A typical small room with no frills, just as I expected. There was a free bottle of water. A bit smelly in the corridor: however, there was... More

Stayed here for 10 nights. Rooms are a little small for western standards. We were hardly in the room, so it was only for sleeping and showering. Cafe Gusto downstairs was excellent! Cheap breakfast buffet and friendly staff. The Hotel staff was excellent! Catered to our every need! Helped us with taxi reservations back to the airport, which trains to... More

I stayed here for 5 nights. The hotel is a short walk from the Yamanote line. A supermarket and a few restaurants are nearby. You can walk to Ikebukuro if you want more lights and action. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. The room had a good bed, TV, Fridge, Bath, shower and good amenities replenished daily. Good tea and... More

The location is excellent. Only few minutes from Mejiro St. which is one of the stations of JR train loop line. We were 3 adults in a triple room which had a little space but it didn't metter at all, since staff & location were great. We didn't book breakfast (they had only Japanese style) but at Mejiro station there... More

Staying in Ikebukuro

Neighborhood Profile
Ikebukuro
Ikebukuro is an area of massive development. Several thousand tenants occupy two giant department stores and shopping malls, where all sorts of shopping and gourmet foods can be enjoyed. The 60-story building at the east entrance of the station, Sunshine City, is a landmark within Ikebukuro and features an aquarium, planetarium, theme park as well as an observation platform. The popular name for the western side of this area is "Otome Road" (Maiden Road) and there are many shops selling products related to anime with a female theme. It has rapidly become the worldwide headquarters for ‘otaku’ or geek culture.
