The location is good. It is within walking distance to Isetan and all the nightlife of Shinjuku. It is only 10 minute walking distance to Shinjuku station (where you can take the Narita Express train). The room is very small but clean. This hotel is only good for overnight stays to catch a flight...I would not stay here on vacation... More

This hotel was unremarkable but met our needs. There was enough signage along the streets that we were able to find it easily. One unusual part of this hotel however is that the guest rooms are split between two buildings with an annex connecting them. We were on the far side on the 5th floor. Our room had wifi, television,... More

The hotel is situated far from the shinjuku subways. It is difficult to make your way to the hotel because the shinjuku subway is so big and there are too many exits! But then, their service is good! The cleaners greets you good morning everyday and the counter staffs are helpful and friendly! Best of all, the counter staffs understand... More

My bf and I had a pleasant stay here in April 2013. (TripAdvisor does not allow me to select this date in the pull down menu, but we indeed stayed here in April 2013, not Sept 2013). Price: The cost for 4 nights was $378 USD, and did not include breakfast. We thought the accommodations suited the price well, but... More

We got here late at night during Japan's Golden Week..the host was a bit stiff but warmed up to us in later days...got out two hotel rooms--the doors to the rooms were short and metallic, reminded me of a lock-up, the rooms were tight specially with our luggage but it was Tokyo and I was in a budget--the room was... I appreciate the sweet stay for 2 days in Hotel Tateshina. The room price in the Shinjuku area are unbelievable. Moreover, the room is very comfortable and clean. Since the environment of the location is very silent. The location of Hotel Tateshina is in a small lane of Shinjuku 5 chome. However, the shopping mall and department stores are all... More

Reasonably clean, very centrally located and value-for-money Japanese breakfast. No frills, but since many upscale hotels charge for gym/ pool access in Tokyo, the money saved goes towards food, excursions, etc. Convenience stores within 50m radius, and countless restaurants (Japanese, western-style) in colourful Ni-chome.

This hotel is cheap and you certainly get what you pay for. It is a basic business hotel with no frills. The rooms are clean and functional. Staff are polite and could adequately converse in English. Good location as it is less than 10 minutes walk to Shinjuku station. The whole place did smell of stale cigarettes even though try... More

Staying in Shinjuku

Neighborhood Profile
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.
