We got here late at night during Japan's Golden Week..the host was a bit stiff but warmed up to us in later days...got out two hotel rooms--the doors to the rooms were short and metallic, reminded me of a lock-up, the rooms were tight specially with our luggage but it was Tokyo and I was in a budget--the room was... Thank you for a stay with us the other days. We're happy to hear you have a comfortable time with us. As you told in a message, our guest room is a little bit small, but we try to offer a friendly service to our customer. Now a dsys, Shinjuku area is a very popular place in Tokyo. We locates... More

I appreciate the sweet stay for 2 days in Hotel Tateshina. The room price in the Shinjuku area are unbelievable. Moreover, the room is very comfortable and clean. Since the environment of the location is very silent. The location of Hotel Tateshina is in a small lane of Shinjuku 5 chome. However, the shopping mall and department stores are all... More

Reasonably clean, very centrally located and value-for-money Japanese breakfast. No frills, but since many upscale hotels charge for gym/ pool access in Tokyo, the money saved goes towards food, excursions, etc. Convenience stores within 50m radius, and countless restaurants (Japanese, western-style) in colourful Ni-chome.

This hotel is cheap and you certainly get what you pay for. It is a basic business hotel with no frills. The rooms are clean and functional. Staff are polite and could adequately converse in English. Good location as it is less than 10 minutes walk to Shinjuku station. The whole place did smell of stale cigarettes even though try... More

Above all, Hotel Tateshina has a great location. It is very close to the nightlife in Ni-chome. Also close to Shinjuku Sanchome station and Shinjuku station. The staff is friendly. While they do not speak much English, they will do whatever is required to communicate. I found them very helpful. The rooms, hallways, elevators are all quite dated and could... More

We spent just one night here in March '13. The location is great, very close (15 min) to the happening area of Shinjuku and a 15 to 20 min walk to Shinjuku JR railway station. The reception are efficient and friendly - free bottle of water and map on arrival and reasonable English. The Hotel it's self is a bit... More

As frequent visitors to Japan, we have been guests at Hotel Tateshina several times a year over the last ten years. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean, a bit outdated but altogether quite comfortable. The location could not be better: direct trains form Narita Airport; 10 to 15 minutes' walk from Shinjuku Station and subway... Basic, business style hotel. A little bit dated and very basic, but for me a great location - across the road from nichome and close enough to the main Shinjuku station. Typical small room, moulded plastic bathroom and a quaint sound system. But a comfortable and clean bed, though the bathroom could have been given a little bit more attention.... More

This hotel is located right on the edge of Kabukicho in Shinjuku; super close to Shinjuku sanchome station and a reasonable walk to Shinjuku station. Location is great down a relatively quiet side street. The actual hotel itself is pretty dated looking; everything looks like it's from about 1981 or so and I somehow unfortunately ended up with a smoking... More
