If you are travelling in a group, do not mind bunking in together to save cost, then Hanabi Hotel is the perfect place. Great location, near rail station, quiet neighbourhood, lots of food nearby, clean hotel and friendly staff. I will return again.

We booked 2 rooms for 7 of us and we stayed for 6 nights. What we like. 1. Clean 2. Service ok. 3. 5 minutes walk to Shin-Okubo Metro station. 4. A few 24 hours convenient stores. 5. Many choices of restaurant along the main road. What we don't like. 1. Room is too tiny to njoy ur stay there.... More

Great simple basic needs for convenient stay for a week, with a little hotplate and fridge and compact space that catered for us with ease at a great budget price. I suggest putting a couple of the slim futons together for a bit more padding if needed ( I was the only one in our family that needed extra one),... More

Stayed for 8 nights in early Dec. Booked a room with 6 futons for our family of 4, so ample space to move around. Room has a small bathroom and pantry. Felt like a one-room flat. Location was very convenient with the Shin-Okubu stn (one stop away from busy Shinjuku stn) within easy walking distance. There're lots of eating places... More

Travelling with this many is a challenge. Can't fit in a taxi normal room etc. We picked Hanabi because they were very family friendly and wanted a authentic start to our trip. Sleeping on tatami mats etc. Great place for that, but if you are expecting a western hotel it's not that. Close to restaurants and shops and near a... More

It has everything you need. Nothing more, nothing less. The futon might be (will be) hard to those who are used to a soft western bed. You practically have no matress. Heck, you can get a comfier bed in a capsule hotel. The bathroom is very small, like one of those you find on cruise ships. It's wholly made of... More

Me and 6 other friends stayed here for 3 nights. This hotel is very value for money, with friendly staff that accomodated us to have rooms side by side. Though the toilets are really tiny, the futons were very comfortable and one room could fit 4 of us very comfortably. There is available parking space for 3 cars in front... More

First of all this hotel is a Korean hotel not a Japanese hotel. Also even though the address says Shinjuku, the hotel is in Shin Okubo area which is like a Korean Town inside Tokyo. The hotel smells like sewage for some reason. The bathroom condition was appalling. It was disgusting and it seemed that it was never cleaned. We... More

During a trip with friends, we were determined to stay in a hotel where we could get an authentic experience of what it could be like to live in Japan. So, based on pictures and price, we went with Hotel Hanabi. At first my friends and I weren't too ecstatic about the place but we warmed to it really quickly.... More

A typical tatami-mat Japanese style hotel with simple cooking facilities. The hotel was clean and the service reasonable. It is very close to the Shin-Okubo station and within walking distance to Shinjuku station. Lots of restaurants and convenience stores around and the simple cooking facilities allowed us to warm up dinner after a long day out. Though located in a... More

Staying in Shinjuku

Neighborhood Profile
Shinjuku
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.
