This was our very first hotel when we landed in Tokyo for the first day and first visit in Japan! We had a hard time looking for it, as it is not very near JR Shinjuku station. We had to take a cab from Shinjuku and even the taxi driver had a hard time looking for it. The receptionists (3... More

Clean, basic amenities & good location. We stayed in 4 hotels during our 9 days in Japan. This would be at the bottom of the list. I guess, what you pay is what you get! Attention TripAdvisor: Ridiculous that I have to comply with 200 characters!!! WHY??? Do you want truthful comments? I don't feel like giving more feedback about... More

Pros: Well suited for a family of four (2 adults, 13-yr and 5 yr) for a 4-day-3-night stay; peace and quiet; clean; comfortable temperature; friendly staff; reasonable price for its class; fast free wifi; with television, refrigerator, 15-minute walk from Shin-Okubo Station (Yamanote Line), 7-11 stores, some resto; 25-minute walk from Golden Gai (wine haven); 20-minute walk from Kabuchicko (red-light... Average hotel, good value for money, clean but the hotel looks old. Very good location, many shops and restaurants and quiet. Staff OK but not very communicative. And for the money value no breakfast.

Not to be confused with Best Western Hotel which is also in Shinjuku area. Stayed here with a friend for 3 days and 2 nights. The place was kinda retro. Like a Japanese 80s movie. But it is clean. Front desk people are nice. They will let you check your belongings while waiting for check-in time so you can roam... More

If you need a cheap Japanese room in Tokyo that is conveniently close to one of the JR stations, then Best Hotel is a logical option. It is a short walk away from the JR Shin-Okubo station and one station away from Shinjuku. If you have sturdy legs, you can even walk to Kabukicho and JR Shinjuku East entrance. Shin-Okubo... More

My room was clean when I walked in. In fact, the toilet had one of those paper ribbons wrapped around the toilet cover that said "sanitized for your need" or something like that which was surprising given all the negative comments about this hotel. I also wanted to address a lot of other negative comments about this hotel. Kabukicho is... More

We went there 12 days 20 days ago... the location is great next the Shinokubo station, restaurants, seven elevens and a few Konbinis stores. The bad point is... there is not clean service at all... they will remove the dirty towels everyday but not the bed sheets so we stayed 2 weeks with the same bed clothes. The positive point... More

We were moved to this hotel upon arriving at the Hotel Empire also in Shijuku as the Empire was having water problems. its a very basic place and not recommended for those of you who want modern cleanliness. if you're just looking for somewhere to sleep and enjoy the local nightlife, its acceptable.

The hotel is about 3 blocks away from the Shin Okubo JR line. Room was clean, nice size. i got the double room and the bed was a decent size. i was expecting smaller so it was above my expectations. Hotel staff was very polite and spoke English. It was as a little hard to find at first as it... More

Staying in Shinjuku

Neighborhood Profile
Shinjuku
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.
