The Avanshell was home base for my husband, 18-year old son, and I for the first week of a two-week pleasure trip to Japan this summer. We stayed in one of their "junior suites," which have 3 beds plus a kitchen area. It was perfect -- tons of room, clean, and right around the corner from the Akasaka metro station.... More

Very large rooms for Japan. Wonderful area to Tokyo and close to metro akasaka stop -1 minute walk. ( go out #2 exit) . No breakfast though included but reasonable priced. There a lot of food choices close by.

We are a party of 3 and stayed one night at the start of our Japan holiday. We caught the NEX to Tokyo station and in stead of getting a taxi to the hotel we were brave and took the Subway. REALLY easy and we saved so much money. The best exit if you have luggage is number 2( because... More

Tokyo Avanshell and Akasaka I chose this hotel as it was convenient for visiting a friend living in Mid-town Residences nearby. It was really reasonably priced at Y13700 per night and a very very big room. It was comfortable and relaxing as the area it is in is so quiet. We had breakfast included but it was a rather lacklustre... More

As others have said, the room is very generous by Japanese standards. We booked a double and it was more like a studio apartment, with a small kitchenette. Location was excellent, just 2 minutes from the subway (Chiyoda Line) and close to many restaurants and bars. The reception is a bit understaffed at night but generally not a problem. Make... More

We stayed here in April 2014. Opted for a deluxe twin room which was absolutely huge. Lots of reviews said the rooms were big but we were really surprised. The next nice surprise was how many amenities were included in the room. Aside from the usual stuff in the bathroom, kettle, fridge etc. we were pleased to find loads of... More

This hotel is a real find! The rooms are huge, especially by Japanese standards, and have a balcony and a little kitchenette with a microwave. The staff are thoughtful and efficient (we stayed at the hotel at the start and end of our trip and they automatically put hypoallergenic pillows in our room the second time we stayed) and the... If you wondered about the meaning of the hotel's name - it is the katakana version of URBAN Shell, slightly lost in transliteration. Its hard to beat the hotel's location; right in the middle of Akasaka (dozens of restaurants literally around the corner) and close to 4 subway lines. The Chiyoda line Akasaka station's #2 entrance is just around the... More

There's nothing exceptional about the Hotel Avanshell Akasaka. But, by Japanese standards, the rooms are huge, with large bed, working desk, couch, coffee table, adequate closet space and decent-sized bathroom. Perfectly clean and maintained. Heated toilet seat and lots of reliable hot water. Good bathroom amenities. Hot water pot and complimentary coffee, tea, and bottled water. TV with a couple... More
