The hotel is located close to the train station which is ideal to get around. However, the rooms are quite small with little space for luggage. Its a hotel for a short stay but not luxurious. It perfect for sleeping but generally not spending much time there. The staff at reception are as helpful as they can be but their... More

We stayed here in January and picked this hotel as our flight arrived late evening and we could get the Narita Express to Shinagawa station. The next morning we were getting the Shinkansen to Nagoya and it was easier than getting around Tokyo station. The hotel was a 5 minute walk uphill but not too bad. The room was small... More

Not recommended to anyone. Even though we booked two air conditioned rooms, they ended up giving non AC rooms. The simple reason was they do not put the air conditioner on during the autumn.Rooms were very small and boiling hot, difficult to breath without the air conditioner. They asked us to open the windows if it is hot. They are cheating... More

We chose this hotel for its location (Shinagawa) and we couldn't get a room in Shinagawa prince hotel for our entire stay in Tokyo. The room is just about okay but having lived in Tokyo previously I didn't find the room to be very small. In my view, this hotel is good for business travellers who just want to spend... More

The main benefit of this hotel was its location near Shinagawa station, which can be reached from Narita Airport on the Keisei Access express in just over an hour, and is convenient for Haneda Airport. As we were staying in Tokyo for two days before an internal flight from Haneda, it was ideal. The rooms were average size for Tokyo... More

Since this hotel was booked as part of a group tour, I can't provide a real in-depth review of the hotel, only what I experienced staying here. I arrived at JR Shinagawa Station after 10 pm and the walk up the hill to the hotel with two spinner suitcases and carry-on bags wouldn't normally have been a problem, were it... More

I stayed for one night.......that looked too long....in room #624. The entry was smelly and the rooms were crammed. There was hardly a place to move. The toilets were stifling and not very clean. There was no room service, even for basic needs like drinking water. For the charges, it was an horrible experience....

The hotel very close to Shinagawa Railway station - in walkable distance. Not recommended for couples - but good for singles. I stayed in this hotel only for one night - en route to Mito - for a small discussion. Hotel is good and having even facilities light massage but we cannot anything more than this as special about this... More

This hotel is located in Shinagawa area which is on the JR line. Its about a 5 minute downhill walk to the station and a 10 minute walk uphill on the way back!!. The JR line had all the stops which we wished to visit. A train ticket for the JR line only costs around £7 a day. The hotel... More

I stayed in The Takanawa Hotel for 2 nights and it was fabulous. It was in an excellent location, a short (slightly uphill) walk from Shinagawa station. Shinagawa station is easily accessed by the airport by the Narita express, other parts of Japan by the Shinkansen (bullet train) and other train lines that will take you to other hot spots... More

Staying in Shinagawa / Gotanda

Neighborhood Profile
Shinagawa / Gotanda
In Shinagawa, an office district shares space with luxury residential buildings and the scene is constantly changing with rapid development. Ikedayama park and Togoshi park are great places to see beautiful traditional Japanese gardens with ponds, as well as enjoy the changing seasons. Shinagawa was a post and a port town during the Edo era and the lavish old Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples at Shinagawa and Ebara are very popular. It's a great place to get in touch with the old Edo atmosphere on a pleasure boat cruising along the canal. The neighboring area around Gotanda station is a study in modern contrasts filled with unique restaurants and a lively nightlife.
