For some reason, Dai-ichi hotel is a 5-star hotel? I still don’t get why? My family and I barely found it deserving of anything more than 2-stars and we did go to a lot of 5-star hotels in Japan; but Dai-ichi is definitely not one of them. For one, Japan is most well-known for it’s hospitality and politeness, and if... More

This hotel is in the luxury class, and the cost accordingly. I have seen offers though for quite lower prices, but at our search for to nonsmoking twin bed rooms, the choice was not wide in Tokyo. Nevertheless, it was worth it. Large rooms with very comfortable beds, noiceless AC and well working WiFi without code hassle. Some noice from... More

Clean and super comfortable, centrally located hotel a couple of blocks from Ginza, Shimbashi Station (Gate 7 is closest gate) and loads of restaurants and shops. A 10 minute walk to Hibya Garden/Park and 20 minutes to the Imperial Palace Gardens. 3 breakfast options - Japanese style, Western Style (both of these are essentially fixed menus) and a fusion buffet.... I stayed here on Business and its a convenient location. Shimbashi station is about three mins from the Hotel both the Subway and JR overground. With the later you can get to Tokyo station and Shinjuku easily on the Yamanote line. The Imperial Palace is a 40 minute walk so take the Subway. Ginza is one stop away on the... More

I had a serious complaint about misinformation given to me by the hotel staff which caused my family to miss a special event we had planned months ahead of time to attend. Instead of owning up to the mistake, the manager and concierge passed off the event as simply a communications issue, offering to waive a trivial cost that we... More

This hotel has always been my choice when staying in Tokyo for the last twenty years. It offers great location, facility, amenities and up to date maintenance. Service was always great. However, I have noticed degraded service from my previous two trips. The attendants were always accommodating with courtesy and smile. This seems to be degrading. No smiles, arrogant, and... More

Hotel has everything for a 3-4 days stay. Couple of minutes from well connected Shimbashi station, convenience store across the road, fantastic little yakitori places right under the train tracks! It's walking distance to Ginza as well. Concierge very helpful, they organised the courier for our luggage to be transferred to the next hotel, the courier service is brilliant we... More

We stayed there for three days in late December of 2014 and enjoyed it. It was sort of formal as it seemed to cater to business people. The staff was very polite and did a good job of caring for our room. The location is good for getting almost everywhere in Tokyo as it is just 1-2 stops away from... More

Stayed here in May. Had a lovely room. Friendly and obliging staff - nothing is too much trouble. The WiFi was excellent. The bar on the 21st floor had wonderful views of the city. A great choice of restaurants within the hotel. Fab location for shops, restaurant and transport. Would definitely recommend I did expect to have free use of... More

I was staying at Daiichi Hotel Tokyo several times for both pleasure and leisure purposes. First of all the location is fantastic – its right in the center of Tokyo where most of the places can be reached by walk ( Ginza, Imperial, Palace , Hamariqu park, etc.) or by short train ride from Shimbashi station. Rooms are fantastic with... More

Staying in Ginza / Tokyo Nihonbashi

Neighborhood Profile
Ginza / Tokyo Nihonbashi
Ginza is famous for being a trendy hotspot, but it's also a downtown area with shops that were founded over a hundred years ago. Department stores and luxury boutiques line the route from Nihonbashi to Ginza. It's a long established tradition to shop and stroll while the road is closed to traffic. Luxury hotels, world class cuisine from talented chefs, and a collection of glitzy clubs will make this area popular with anyone looking for a night out.
