Currently staying at The Strings by InterContinental Tokyo. As a business traveller this is an extremely difficult room to work in. The only air-conditioning vent in the room is directly above the work desk. Whatever the setting you either have hot air or freezing air directly blowing on your head. Turn the air-conditioner off and the room becomes stuffy very... More

Eat the Japanese breakfast; it is a great change from traditional Western breakfasts. Very convenient to public transportation; the train station is across the road. Staff was very helpful. Fitness room could use more space and variety, but has a great city view.

We stayed at The Strings for 4 nights at the end of January. As an ambassador, we were upgraded to a well appointed room with an amazing view of Tokyo. The fitness centre was equipped with great equipment and this room also had a lovely view over Tokyo. Staff were very friendly, particularly Ronaldo in the Bar, he was very... More

Nicely built, managed, and maintained western hotel. The rooms are well done, and can match whatever temperature you want. Sounds odd, but I've been in many hotels that get to hot with very little temperature control. Size of the rooms is very good for Tokyo. Breakfast is a standard western / asia mix. Room service is a bit on the... More

The views from the window were fantastic The hotel is very modern with a large reception area/atrium which was relaxing and smelled divine Staff were helpful and polite. The rooms were slightly small however spotlessly clean and well appointed

Walking distance to Shinagawa station, this is really a quiet and nice hotel. Rooms are normal western size with good bathroom. The staff is very helpful and forthcoming. Stayed here before and the experience is great. The breakfast buffet is very good. One thing to note, over time they have lowered the standards somewhat. [Coffee from thermos bottle instead of... Conveniently located at Shinagawa station which means you can take the train from the airport and get here with a short walk. For first-timers, you may need to ask around as the hotel signage wasn't visible, perhaps in keeping with its subtle image, in the city yet tucked away as the lobby/reception is located on the 26th floor. Excellent and... More

Intercontinental The Strings is a nice business hotel near Shinagawa Station, a great spot to land if you arrive in the late evening to Haneda airport and wish to catch a morning Shinkansen train. Staying in Shinagawa / Gotanda

    Neighborhood Profile
    Shinagawa / Gotanda
In Shinagawa, an office district shares space with luxury residential buildings and the scene is constantly changing with rapid development. Ikedayama park and Togoshi park are great places to see beautiful traditional Japanese gardens with ponds, as well as enjoy the changing seasons. Shinagawa was a post and a port town during the Edo era and the lavish old Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples at Shinagawa and Ebara are very popular. It's a great place to get in touch with the old Edo atmosphere on a pleasure boat cruising along the canal. The neighboring area around Gotanda station is a study in modern contrasts filled with unique restaurants and a lively nightlife.
