My first stay at this hotel but my other half has stayed previously and thought I would like the style of the hotel. Indeed its convenient to Shinagawa station and you can walk undercover to the hotel. Take the lift up to the reception as the building is mostly occupied by offices but means the rooms are all on higher... More

The hotel is well located with direct access to the Shinagawa station, where trains bring you to major Tokyo attractions. The room are all on high floors with nice views. The lobby area is very nice and gives a sense of big space The staff was very friendly and helpful. The only drawback was that the room was quite small... More

Just stayed here with my family and maybe it was because the hotel was to full capacity but the service wasn't great. First, we arrived at around 1 pm and were told the room would not be ready until 4. We decided to go out but asked them to take a roll away bed for my son. When we arrived... More

This is a fantastic hotel with lovely rooms and great staff. The hotel is actually connected to Shinagawa station with a sheltered sky walk which is very convienient for those Japanese rainy days. The room is very spacious and as the hotel starts on the 26th floor, you'll get a great view no matter what floor you're on. There are... More

The hotel is in a great position, next to Shinagawa station. We bought a JR Rail pass for a week and this enabled us to travel around Tokyo easily. We also then used it for a Shinkasen journey to Kyoto. The hotel is on the 26th floor in the East Tower, as such the rooms have great views of Tokyo.... More

Beautiful hotel, very modern inside with really good views, plenty of places to eat near by and ideally situated next door to Shinagawa. We got the bullet train from Kyoto direct to this station and then the Nex train direct to Narita airport. Worth taking plenty of cash with you as we could not get any money from ATM machines,... Nice hotel overall and i like the japanese modern style of it. This is a small hotel in an office tower and it has a few restaurants nearby as well. Location to the train terminal at Shinagawa is great but other than that there is not much around there. I did like the hotel for for location other than the... More

The Strings is in a great location, just a few minutes walk from Shinagawa station (which will connect you to the rest of Tokyo). We stayed in a corner suite and had a fantastic experience. The room was extremely comfortable, equipped and spacious. The view of the city line was also a plus. The staff at The Strings were also... More

I've stayed at this property now at least 4 times since my initial visit at the end of 2013. Its a consistent hotel with great service and exceptional location next to Shinagawa station. The downsides are merely twofold: The breakfast is somewhat spartan and the workout facility is quite small. Otherwise, its good choice for a business traveler.

Staying in Shinagawa / Gotanda

Neighborhood Profile
Shinagawa / Gotanda
In Shinagawa, an office district shares space with luxury residential buildings and the scene is constantly changing with rapid development. Ikedayama park and Togoshi park are great places to see beautiful traditional Japanese gardens with ponds, as well as enjoy the changing seasons. Shinagawa was a post and a port town during the Edo era and the lavish old Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples at Shinagawa and Ebara are very popular. It's a great place to get in touch with the old Edo atmosphere on a pleasure boat cruising along the canal. The neighboring area around Gotanda station is a study in modern contrasts filled with unique restaurants and a lively nightlife.
