My family of 3 stayed at the Strings for 4 nights while touring Japan. We had a great room - spacious (room for 3 twin/single beds), clean, and great view. The staff was amazing. They were all so helpful and kind. Be sure to take advantage of the concierge, as they helped us with our sightseeing itineraries and transportation logistics.... More

This is a very convenient hotel to get to from Narita airport via Narita Express getting off at Shinagawa station. Easy walk to hotel. Good location if you need to or want to get around Tokyo using train/subways. Rooms, food, service will not disappoint you. You will enjoy this first class hotel.

We stayed twice this month using Reward Night points. We were given a room on the 30th floor on the side away from Shinagawa station. It was quiet. Great views. The staff were all very helpful. Very close to Shinagawa station and therefore the Narita Express, the bullet rains and the JR Yamanote line. Room was immaculate if on the... More

We went to Japan for a two-week family reunion and the Strings was by far the best place we stayed. The rooms are spotless and very comfortably sized for Japan. My niece didn't want to leave her room! We enjoyed the jacuzzi bath in the deluxe room, as well as the fitness, both with a splendid view of Tokyo. The... More

A belated review. Have stayed here for two nights. Fast check in and convenient check out service offered. Got a room with a remote view of Tokyo Tower. The room is not small by Tokyo standards:):) Location is very convenient! I was at a loss when I first got out of Shinagawa station. Even if I had google map in... More

They lived up to the expectation. My group loves the hotel, rooms, bathroom, food.. so what more can I say? Room rate is worth it! Location is really good. steps away from the station. Plus their guest services is superb. Specially to Mr Jun Takahashi. He has been very helpful and accommodating. A+++

Very friendly, helpful and attentive staff Clean and organized space/room Within Shinigawa Japan Rail station so it was very easy to access other cities. Does not have swimming pool Good food options within and several other choices outside of the hotel Does not offer airport shuttle Absolutely a good place to stay while in Tokyo

Located right at the Shinagawa train station, it's a good place to base yourself for exploring Tokyo by subway. Haneda airport rail line comes right to this station. Although I was there primarily for business, the subway and bullet trains available right there are invaluable. Took a two-day trip to Kyoto on the bullet train right from Shinagawa. The hotel... Do not book the standard if there are two of you. Very small bed and we needed to upgrade for $30 CAD per night for a larger bed. Great location just next to Shinagawa station, avoid rush hour as you will face the polite stampede of workers heading to their offices. Breakfast buffets were good with great variety including Japanese food

Staying in Shinagawa / Gotanda

Neighborhood Profile
Shinagawa / Gotanda
In Shinagawa, an office district shares space with luxury residential buildings and the scene is constantly changing with rapid development. Ikedayama park and Togoshi park are great places to see beautiful traditional Japanese gardens with ponds, as well as enjoy the changing seasons. Shinagawa was a post and a port town during the Edo era and the lavish old Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples at Shinagawa and Ebara are very popular. It's a great place to get in touch with the old Edo atmosphere on a pleasure boat cruising along the canal. The neighboring area around Gotanda station is a study in modern contrasts filled with unique restaurants and a lively nightlife.
