We stayed here our first night in Tokyo, primarily because we had a late arrival at Haneda and wanted to head out to Kyoto first thing the next morning. This hotel is across the street form Shinagawa station. We took the train from Haneda and had no trouble at all finding it (you can see it as the train pulls... More

In a city like Tokyo it is not easy to get a low price and yet descent hotel so Toyoko Inn Sinagawaeki is great. Although Shinagawa does not have much to offer when compared to Shinjuku, it is a very descent suburb and is very accessible by the subway to every part in Tokyo. We particularly like the breakfast in... More

I think that by Tokyo standard prices this hotel was very convenient. The location is perfect, even if you're visiting Tokyo as a tourist: you can walk (2 minutes) to Shinagawa station and from there reach any major spot in Tokyo. The area around the hotel has several malls, food courts, etc. it's just not so easy to find them... More

i'm not going to make up some story about how this hotel is GREAT but this is my hotel chain of choice when I'm in japan. Here are a couple of reasons why i like it so much: 1.) Location to Shinagawa Station - just a short 5 - 10 minute walk from the hotel to station and this station... More

A friend in Japan recommnded this Toyoko-inn chain years ago and I would take a look of their web-stie whenever I go to Japan since then. It's a budget "business hotel", so I wouldn't recommand for couples wanting luxuary accomodation. But this kind of hotel is excellent for solo traveller. This hotel is quite close to Shinagawa station (which is... More

So we were looking for a hotel to rest our heads for the night after a (SUPER) long flight that was close to a shinkansen station for our next-day trip to Hiroshima. This location of Toyoko Inn did not disappoint. Granted, it's quite small (like many business hotels in Japan and especially Tokyo), so it's not somewhere where you want... More

I always recomment this hotel: great location (2 min from Shinagawa Station, direct Narita Express connection!), friendly to your budget, a hop across the street shows you how Japan's Salarymen spend their evenings and you actually see how "normal" hotels in Japan look like. besides: when in Tokyo why hang out in your hotel? Its location is ideal as its just outside the Shinagawa station which is a major station well connected to the city & country's network,we had a double room which was clean and fresh.Hotel staff spoke English and were very helpful their breakfast was(Japanese) good as well got the... We were staying at an apartment a few blocks away and had lost our printed reservation for the Imperial Palace tour. The hotel allowed us to print the reservation on their computer in the lobby. This was very helpful and we wanted to thank them for their kind service. As for the location, it was better than our apartment as... More

So this is not a hotel to stay in if you plan to spend much time in your room. I stayed in a single room and it was tiny. Even tiny for Japan. You could not open a suitcase fully anywhere in the room, it had to be partially accessed while peeking out from under the bed. The bathroom was... More

Staying in Shinagawa / Gotanda

Neighborhood Profile
Shinagawa / Gotanda
In Shinagawa, an office district shares space with luxury residential buildings and the scene is constantly changing with rapid development. Ikedayama park and Togoshi park are great places to see beautiful traditional Japanese gardens with ponds, as well as enjoy the changing seasons. Shinagawa was a post and a port town during the Edo era and the lavish old Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples at Shinagawa and Ebara are very popular. It's a great place to get in touch with the old Edo atmosphere on a pleasure boat cruising along the canal. The neighboring area around Gotanda station is a study in modern contrasts filled with unique restaurants and a lively nightlife.
