Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights, because we are using our JR Pass to travel between Tokyo and Osaka via Shinkansen, and Shinagawa is the best place if you want to do that. Also has Narita Express stop to the airport. One of the earlier Toyoko Inn, but still very clean and convenient and free Internet. The breakfast, compared... More

First off, people have to know what the Toyoko Inn chain is like. It's a chain of clean, well-lit business hotels that are some of the better deals you'll find. My room was one of the more expensive Toyoko Inn rooms I've been in, but it was also the largest room I've ever paid for in Tokyo. They were able... More

1. good location. This hotel is great located in Shinagawa, which is a main transportation station to many placed(especially we need to take Yamanote line and it's ver very very near to Haneda Airport). The location is everything, to a traveler. 2. Good Price. It's cheap. But you have to be their member to get better rate, and the member... More

Given its close proximity to Shinagawa Station, I would say the hotel is satisfactory. The only shortfall is their extremely strict policy to enter room only after 4pm (even you are early by a few minutes) despite the room is already ready to enter. This make the entire lobby filled up with luggage which is unsightly from the outside. Other... More

We stayed here our first night in Tokyo, primarily because we had a late arrival at Haneda and wanted to head out to Kyoto first thing the next morning. This hotel is across the street form Shinagawa station. We took the train from Haneda and had no trouble at all finding it (you can see it as the train pulls... More

In a city like Tokyo it is not easy to get a low price and yet descent hotel so Toyoko Inn Sinagawaeki is great. Although Shinagawa does not have much to offer when compared to Shinjuku, it is a very descent suburb and is very accessible by the subway to every part in Tokyo. We particularly like the breakfast in... More

I think that by Tokyo standard prices this hotel was very convenient. The location is perfect, even if you're visiting Tokyo as a tourist: you can walk (2 minutes) to Shinagawa station and from there reach any major spot in Tokyo. The area around the hotel has several malls, food courts, etc. it's just not so easy to find them... More

i'm not going to make up some story about how this hotel is GREAT but this is my hotel chain of choice when I'm in japan. Here are a couple of reasons why i like it so much: 1.) Location to Shinagawa Station - just a short 5 - 10 minute walk from the hotel to station and this station... More

A friend in Japan recommnded this Toyoko-inn chain years ago and I would take a look of their web-stie whenever I go to Japan since then. It's a budget "business hotel", so I wouldn't recommand for couples wanting luxuary accomodation. But this kind of hotel is excellent for solo traveller. This hotel is quite close to Shinagawa station (which is... More

So we were looking for a hotel to rest our heads for the night after a (SUPER) long flight that was close to a shinkansen station for our next-day trip to Hiroshima. This location of Toyoko Inn did not disappoint. Granted, it's quite small (like many business hotels in Japan and especially Tokyo), so it's not somewhere where you want... More

Staying in Shinagawa / Gotanda

Neighborhood Profile
Shinagawa / Gotanda
In Shinagawa, an office district shares space with luxury residential buildings and the scene is constantly changing with rapid development. Ikedayama park and Togoshi park are great places to see beautiful traditional Japanese gardens with ponds, as well as enjoy the changing seasons. Shinagawa was a post and a port town during the Edo era and the lavish old Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples at Shinagawa and Ebara are very popular. It's a great place to get in touch with the old Edo atmosphere on a pleasure boat cruising along the canal. The neighboring area around Gotanda station is a study in modern contrasts filled with unique restaurants and a lively nightlife.
