I had to come to go to Tokyo to attend a conference at the Imperial hotel. SInce the rate for that hotel is very expensive, I looked for a budget hotel which can conveniently connect to Imperial via the Hibiya line. This hotel was what I was looking for! Granted that the rooms are small (all rooms in Japan are... more

This hotel is an economical choice if you don't want to pay a fortune staying in Tokyo. I stayed here for five nights (single room) and it was fine. This is a business area ( the financial area and stock exchange are nearby ). It's not really geared for English speaking tourists but it's manageable. Although my room was on... more

Strategic location as situated near to the Kayabacho metro station, about 1-2minutes walk depending on which metro exit. Also located about 30 mins walk from the T-Cat terminal which is convenient to travelers hoping to get to the airport via coach. In general only 2 of the ladies at the front desk were helpful and friendly while the rest were... more

It's a no frill hotel so don't expect alot but overall it's good deal for what I am paying especially in Tokyo. Paid JPY15,750 for Triple room (includes breakfast for 3 people). Room size is about 25m2 with 3 single beds. Room is very clean with daily cleaning includes changes of bedsheet, yugata & slipper. Note: they will not do... more

I have stayed in quite a few business hotels in Tokyo and this is by far the best one. I originally chose it for the location: walking distance to Tokyo station, right next to the Tozai, Hibiya subway lines and a short walk to the Keiyo line. The staff are friendly, the internet connection is free, the breakfast buffet is... more

First off, yes it is small. Very small. Once you get past that, what you have is a room with all the basic amenities that you would need at a fantastic price. I found this room on the hotel's website for $50 per night for the end of November. Overall I was quite pleased. They had in room internet for... more

We stayed at this hotel twice in December 2006. It's definitely not the best hotel I've ever stayed at but it's ok for the price. The rooms are very cosy and we found the bed quite hard and uncomfortable. My boyfriend and I stayed in a double room but I would recommend staying in a twin room as these seemed... more

The Hotel Universe chain is an excellent choice in Japan, and a higher end version of that wonderful Japanese institution, the 'business hotel'. Business hotels are designed to be functional, not spacious. If you want spacious then try a full-on Western style hotel (and pay through the nose for it too). Personally, I think business hotels are great and they... more

Stayed at the Universe for one night in june '05. My girlfriend and I were very happy with this hotel. The room was small but quite nice...there was a new flatscreen TV and recently redone bathroom. Staff were friendly enough. Room was spotless. For $145 Canadian it was a very good deal, expecially considering its great location (right by subway)... more

I stayed at Hotel Universe Nihombashi Kayabacho the last week of March and the first week of April in 2005. While it's true that the rooms are small, they are just what I was looking for in Tokyo. I was traveling alone and was constantly on the go, so the size of the room wasn't an issue. The staff were... more
