Really enjoyed my short stay at the property, which was near a very pleasant park. Neighbourhood is quiet, and hotel is functional, clean and pleasant, with most travellers keeping themselves to themselves. An hour to the airport via local trains. Breakfast was also pleasant enough. Stronger internet in the rooms would be welcome.

Last year for our honeymoon, my husband and I went to Tokyo and traveled across the US. Not only did we completely fall in love with Tokyo BUT we fell in love with the Sakura Hotel in Jimbocho and the whole district. The Jimbocho area is known for its second hand books and is such a beautiful quiet area while... More

Thank you for your warm comment. Due to building structural matter, we also acknowledge that there is a limitation of space unfortunately, but we believe that we are one of the most budget friendly hotels in Tokyo and confident with our location having easy access to many sight seeing spots from here, the center of Tokyo. We are also enjoying... More

The staff were great, really helpful, always had time for you, to answer questions and show you how to get places on the map and organize a shuttle at another hotel. The toilets and showers were clean. it was quite. breakfast did the job, it was small downstairs for eating and no common room but you learn to deal and... More

First, I have to say, it is like a hotel (with resident sharing the facility) more than backpacker. So, adjust your expectation first, it is a place to stay more than a place to make friends in common area. They do have a common area, but not that kind of atmosphere, I am fine with it since I would rather... More

My boyfriend and I stayed in a 'semi-double' room at the Sakura and found it perfect for our 1st night on Tokyo: a great place to arrive, check in with ease, crash out for an hour to stave off jet-lag, chug down a coffee in the café and head out to see Tokyo. Well connected and v easy to get... More

Thank you for staying at our hotel and warm comment. Although we are a small hotel, we are enjoying meeting each guest at our reception and trying the best to make their stay more comfortable. We look forward to seeing you at our reception again! More

The hotel had a friendly atmosphere from the start. It's handily located just around the corner from Jimbocho subway station and the lobby is small but serves drinks and snacks and staff are friendly. The whole place was spotlessly clean, rooms cleaned each day and clean yukatas and slippers in the rooms. Showers were shared but always clean and plenty... More

Apart from the size of the room (which could say that it's normal Tokyo standard), and the internet connection inside my (private) room, this place is very good. Sometimes there were other residents that didn't care much about others and were very loud after midnight. The staffs were friendly. The cafe on first floor was great. The atmosphere there was... This is a budget hotel, so the review is relative to the price compared to neighboring hotels. If you are looking for a clean, comfortable, convenient, but cheap place, then the Sakura is fine. The staff were very helpful, and everything was clean, but cramped. If you are over 188 cm, then you might bump your head in the shower... More

Thank you very much for your comment about our hotel. Your explanation of subway system in Tokyo is also great. Although we consider ourselves that our location is very good, being located in the center of Tokyo, it is also true that the subway system in Tokyo is bits complicated even for Japanese people sometimes. Hoping we can be a... More

I stayed here for a week over the new years period in a dorm room. It was pretty cramped and the decor itself didn't feel too appealing but the bed itself was more comfortable than it looks, curtains are provided so you can have privacy. These things might not be appealing to some but since I was just interested in... More

Staying in Ochanomizu / Akihabara / Kanda

Neighborhood Profile
Ochanomizu / Akihabara / Kanda
Ochanomizu boasts its academic foundations starting with Yushima Seido, the birthplace of modern day Japanese education. The area has kept its college town feel with several university campuses. If you head towards Jinbocho, you'll find musical instrument and sports equipment shops, and an area of used bookstores for students and anyone interested in literature and the arts. Akihabara is well-known for its computer and electronic goods stores, and is now hugely popular as the must-visit mecca for people interested in anime and games. Kanda is an office district where you can find loads of reasonably priced izakayas popular with professionals who stop to eat and drink before making their way home.
