We stayed there at the end of our Japan tour with Unique Japan. This is an elegant hotel located at the edge of the beautiful garden it overlooks from high above. Our room had a view of the trees and the city. The room was very nice with a fantastic bathroom. You get first class service and friendliness... and small... More

We love this hotel. Access from Narita takes a couple of hours from landing. We took the Skyliner bound for Ueno, changed to the J.R. Yamanote line at the Nippori stop. We took the train to the Meijiro stop. A quick walk across the street to the bus stop for Bus 61. 10 minute bus ride to Chinzanso stop and... More

Dear cmac726-Sama, Thank you for staying with us and for sharing your review on this site. It is always nice to read what our guests like and appreciate the most. There are several ways to get to our hotel from Narita. The easiest is the direct limousine bus, but the Skyliner which you took to Nippori is also a quick... More

I only stayed one night, but from the moment I walked up to the door of the lobby, I could not have been made to feel more special. There wasn't a single element I would criticise - the gardens are stunning, the spa superb and the massage was incredible. Without doubt the most professional, tension relieving hour one could experience.... More

Just having spent ten wonderful days in the Chinzanso Hotel we must say the stay has been wonderful. The garden is beautiful. location wise, a good ten minute walk to the closest subway and not an easy WLL on the way back as the hill go the hotel is a little steep, but a nice walk and easy to find... Dear Adrian H-Sama, Thank you for your relatively long stay at our hotel and for giving us your feedback through this site. The garden is indeed beautiful, no matter the season you visit. The lobby and rooms are absolutely beatiful. The beds and showers are great. Garden views from the rooms perfectly match the nature sounds that can be played thoughout the bedroom. Staff is friendly and helpful. We were placed in a room with incorrect bed arrangement and they immediately resolved the problem in a calm and pleasant manner. One of the... More

What I like the most is the hotel is surrounded by gardens and it has walking path in it. It's so relaxing. All the staff of the hotel are kind and helpful. It's good to families to stay in. Breakfast is delicious and nice, not so many varieties of food though

This is the first time that I stayed in the property since it ceased being a Four Seasons, but to be honest you can't notice the difference. This is a very good hotel, with beautiful grounds and good facilities. It is a bit annoying that prices in the bar (and in the mini-bar!) are outlandishly expensive, but that's life. Overall... We had the impression we were the only non-Japanese in the hotel but were made to feel very welcome during our entire stay. The staff were wonderfully friendly and professional and the hotel itself is spotless, beautiful and the garden is a tranquil getaway in this mega-capital which is constantly busy. This Hotel used to be Four Seasons years ago. Very effective check in and friendly staff guide you to your room. Large room with all you need. Large bathroom with comfy shower. Also comfy bed. Liked the gym too in the second floor. Will be back!

I'm fortunate enough to have stayed at a number of supposedly upmarket hotels. They often fail to live up to expectations. A superficial veneer of 'luxury' typically overlays poor service, incompetent staff and inadequate maintenance. The Chinzanso was a welcome and refreshing exception to this rule and delivered in full on its five star promise. Very welcoming staff, comfortable room,... More

Staying in Ikebukuro

Neighborhood Profile
Ikebukuro
Ikebukuro is an area of massive development. Several thousand tenants occupy two giant department stores and shopping malls, where all sorts of shopping and gourmet foods can be enjoyed. The 60-story building at the east entrance of the station, Sunshine City, is a landmark within Ikebukuro and features an aquarium, planetarium, theme park as well as an observation platform. The popular name for the western side of this area is "Otome Road" (Maiden Road) and there are many shops selling products related to anime with a female theme. It has rapidly become the worldwide headquarters for ‘otaku’ or geek culture.
