I was on a trip for which my hotel needs were modest - just needed a place to store my stuff and get some sleep, because I'd be out and about from morning til night. The St Hills Hotel was perfectly fine for that purpose. Americans who think European hotel rooms are small will find Japanese business hotel rooms to... More

Whilst there's not much for the tourist in the immediate vicinity, the JR station is minutes away. Tokyo Central or Akihabara are just 1 or 2 stations from here. The bed is very comfortable, air conditioning & wifi work well. The shower is typically over the bath, however the bath walls are high and some might be physically challenged. Breakfast... More

This is a well placed hotel in Bunkyo, Tokyo aka University town. It's a short 7 mins walk to a subway station and JR station, which makes the transit to/from airport easy enough. It's only 2 subway stops from Main Tokyo station and 1 JR station away. Sight up/downhill with steps to navigate but overall, still manageable with wheelies for... More

One night stay with my wife. Non-smoking room could not be available, but not concerned at all. Staff were very friendly, breakfast( simple continental / bread, pastry, coffee and juice) was satisfying. A little bit far from nearby station, AKIHABARA or OCHANOMIZU, about five minutes' walk. If you will be going to check-in late in night ( especially rainy night... More

Although it is a typical japanese business hotel, but it's good enough for me for a 4D3N stay in Tokyo. Centrally located between Akihabara and Tokyo Dome (JFA is two streets away from the hotel), location is very good. Food is available from the cafes and convenient stores. The room is clean, spacious (some might argue that it's not that... More

This hotel is a typical Japanese business hotel. It is conveniently located to two train lines and two subways. There are a few restaurants in the neighborhood and several convenience stores between the hotel and the closest stations. It's about 7 minutes walking to the stations. The place is clean and functional, but dated. The staff speaks little English, but... More

At the time of writing this review this hotel is listed in the Specialty Lodgings category but I'm not sure why since it's just a typical business hotel. You get a small room with a very small bathroom for a reasonable price. It's unspectacular in every way but it gets the basics right. The rooms are clean and functional. The... More

Staying in Ochanomizu / Akihabara / Kanda

Neighborhood Profile
Ochanomizu / Akihabara / Kanda
Ochanomizu boasts its academic foundations starting with Yushima Seido, the birthplace of modern day Japanese education. The area has kept its college town feel with several university campuses. If you head towards Jinbocho, you'll find musical instrument and sports equipment shops, and an area of used bookstores for students and anyone interested in literature and the arts. Akihabara is well-known for its computer and electronic goods stores, and is now hugely popular as the must-visit mecca for people interested in anime and games. Kanda is an office district where you can find loads of reasonably priced izakayas popular with professionals who stop to eat and drink before making their way home.
