Beautiful setting in the canyon with great views. Sun comes over the mountain early and bathes the place in light. Absolutely lovely staff. Highlight for us was the free hike accompanied by Freddy who is friendly, very caring about his local culture and environment, knowledgeable and able to communicate this in several languages (Spanish, English, French, Italian, Quechua), patient and... We travelled from Puno To Arequipa with a stopover in Colca Canyon in the town of Yanque at the Killawasi Lodge. Our goal was to see the condors flying. My husband particularly chose it because of its high rating on trip advisor. We were not disappointed! Our room was No. 7 upstairs. It was a large comfortable room, overlooking the... More

Finally took the plunge to travel somewhere else than work in Lima and spent a weekend in Arequipa, Peru. A side trip is to Calco Canyon, which is an interesting place to see Condors and the canyon which is pre Inca. This hotel is situated near major town but itself is in a small village. The view is beautiful, the... More

We stayed at the Killawasi Lodge during Christmas and it was just perfect. We initially booked a room including pick-up and drop-off in Arequipa, but because of a sudden change in travel plans we wanted to change the drop-off location to Puno very last minute. This was not a problem and everything was arranged by the hotel as smoothly as... More

This was a very pleasant surprise during our trip. Killawasi Lodge is located in a small village in the middle of nowhere. It was not our first choice so I was not expecting a lot. First the staff was very nice and SMILLING!!! We are used to travel in Asia where pleasing a costumer is a way of life and... More

We spent 2 night at the Killawasi Lodge. The view was exhilarating. We can see a live volcano from the deck. This is a quiet place in a quiet town. We enjoyed the short walk to town. The 2 hour horseback riding tour with Wilbert Malaga should not be missed. It was one of the highlights of our 10 day... More

Room was spacious, comfy. Breakfast was good. Staff were polite. The view from our room and the balcony was great with the smoking volcano and the other volcanoes towering around. The whole area is well landscaped and has its own resident mocking bird. Their free guided hike to the ruins is good. Owner speaks fluent English and arranged Mirador del... More

Killawasi handled all my arrangements choosing a great, informative company to pick me up in Arequipa. There are a few tourist stops on the way. When you get to Colca and roll into Chivay the bus empties for lunch. It is at this point you learn that you are not disembarking but heading to a nearby more remote village called... More

Contrary to other small villages in the Colca Cannon, Yanque is still very much unspoiled by the mushrooming tourism with all it's drab manifestations. The Killawasi Lodge keeps step with this image. A small, very well appointed, cosy and welcoming inn, off the beaten track. It's situated in a very quite side street. The staff is extremely welcoming, competent and... More
